Baber to Run for La Mesa Council Seat

The UT's story this morning that Dave Allan will not seek re-election to the La Mesa City Council (more on my friend Dave later), allows me to "dis-embargo," nail down and break what has been a very quiet rumor afloat since last week.

La Mesa-Spring Valley School Board Member, longtime GOP activist, and former City of SD Rules Committee Counsel Bill Baber will run for the seat. It was a simple interview:
Q - Are you going to run?
BB - Yes.
Q - Why?
BB - I love La Mesa. My wife and I are raising our four young children here. I want my kids to have a safe, healthy, and prosperous city. This is going to be an exciting race because the voters will have a clear choice...Who will best lead La Mesa into the next decade? Are we going to maintain the status quo or are we going to innovate?
He then said bye, as he had to get to his son's T-Ball practice.
November Nutshell: Two La Mesa Council seats up; top two vote-getters; incumbent Ruth Sterling expected to run for re-election; Shannon O'Dunn previously announced her intention.

Bill the people of La Mesa are lucky to have you! You are one of the good guys!
Couldn't happen to a better guy. Another one from our team moving down the field. La Mesa will be well served.
OK great, so Dick Murphy's deputy is being heralded as a good guy by the same group that is trying to villify Scott Peters.
"Hello, kettle? Yes, this is the pot ..."
Bill has been my mentor on the La Mesa-Spring Valley Governing Board. I respect his judgment and leadership. He would be an asset to La Mesa City Council.
Baber has been an active and important member of the La Mesa that I have previously had the pleasure f working with in the community. In my opinion, if anything, his candidacy is long overdue.
This is fantastic news! Bill's candidacy for this seat is something that La Mesa desperately needed. Bill is true public servant and a team player. La Mesa residents will benefit tremendously from having his innovative thinking on its council. Good Luck Bill!
Go Bill!
Bill Baber is a true believer in public service. La Mesa will be better off for bringing Bill Baber into city hall so that he can help improve the city.
Bill is a rockstar! La Mesa will have one fantastic councilmember in Baber.
Bill Baber is a great person and will be an asset to the La Mesa City Council.
