Just in from the Steve Francis for Mayor campaign...
FRANCIS BETS SKIP FRYE SURFBOARD
PREDICTS CHARGERS VICTORY OVER PATRIOTS
San Diego, CA...San Diego Mayoral candidate Steve Francis has offered Boston Mayor Thomas Menino a friendly wager between two proud cities prior to this Sunday's AFC Championship game. Francis, a twenty year fan of the San Diego Chargers, predicts a Charger win over the New England Patriots and is putting up a Skip Frye Pacific Beach surfboard as a show of Charger pride.
Francis stated, "Since I couldn't ask LaDainian Tomlinson to be my running mate, I figured why not show San Diego pride leading up to the game and what better way than a Skip Frye surfboard?"
Part of running a big city is taking pride in your NFL team and having the ability to multi-task. Francis picked up the responsibility of the bet when Mayor Sanders' spokesman said it isn't a priority for the Mayor.

Wow, because all I want in a mayor is someone who bets on the Chargers. Very impressive. This shows strong leadership qualities from the Francis campaign.
*rolls eyes*
Sarcasm aside, I'm still voting for Sanders.
Priority or not, it does make for a nice rah-rah type competition between cities, something appropo for the mayor to do. Actually, I'm surprised the city attorney didn't call Boston and make the bet.
I believe this was a pot shot at Sainz and the Mayor, who said they didnt have the time to do deal with this type of thing or some such.
Odd? Yes.
Funny? Yes.
Makes me want to vote for Francis? No.
Undecided? Yes.
Fred... but not THE Fred
And the headline is...
City Attorney opens investigation into illegal sports wagering by Mayoral Campaign. Mr. Agguire sites concerns over illicit fundraising from out of state politicans.
What's up with the Skip Frye board? New found bipartisanship? Hey Steve, how about we DON'T support the people trying to ruin our fine city.
Francis definitely has a new found love for Donna Frye and the left. From the VoSD article yesterday:
"In 2005 special election, Francis went from a virtually unknown in eight weeks to come within 3.4 percentage points of Sanders with the help of his personal fortune. After failing to advance to the primary, he endorsed Sanders.
When asked Tuesday whether he wished he would've endorsed Frye, Francis said he did. "I think she would've been a better mayor," he said."
Sounds like Francis is trying to brown nose Donna Fyre. He should know better than that, I bet she is sitting back in her office laughing at the irony of the situation.
I Aint Too Proud to Beg!
Is this the deal then: Francis strikes deal with Aguirre and Frye to concentrate flak on the Mayor from right or left.
Aguirre might not be so useful now. But Frye is. She want to be City Council President maybe??
Whats the big deal? All our city has dealt with is PENSION, CHARTER REFORM, GAY MARRAIGE...I appreciate someone, ANY one making light and waging bets on the Chargers game. Lets put our name out there! I like the Mayor a lot, but why couldn't he think of something like this?!
