The voters approved by a large margin the propositions 1A - 1E and Prop 84 and in so doing sent a message that they wanted California to resume investing in our infrastructure. Roads and rail improvements are critical to improve our goods movement capabilities, and reduce traffic congestion in particular.
The Governor's proposed budget removes about $600,000,000 that would have ordinarily been there for such purposes, moves it into the general fund, and replaces that money with Prop 1B bond proceeds.
I believe the voters wanted the transit and transportation budget supplimented, not supplanted, and I look forward to seeing how our elected members of the Assembly and Senate will address this issue.
