As I am sure many people are aware-- John and Ken are on the air live right now discussing Red County San Bernardino and Assemblyman Cook's editorial below. Â

Here is the response I just received from the Senator as a response to the current drama surrounding Prop 1A and the GOP:

I voted against putting Prop 1A on the ballot for a number of reasons.Â

While the language in Prop. 1A does not specially say it will raise taxes, approving the measure will cost taxpayers an additional $16 billion, according to the non-partisan Legislative Analyst Office.Â

These taxes include extending the sales tax, nearly doubling the car tax, an increase in the personal income tax rate and a reduction in the tax credit for dependents, costing California families $200 per child.

All totaled, these tax increases on Prop 1A will cost the typical California family more than $1,000 a year.

That's hardly an honest spending cap.

In exchange for billions in new taxes you get a spending cap that limits spending until they raise taxes again. That's right, every time taxes are raised, the so-called spending cap can be adjusted upward. Where's the spending discipline in that?
This spending cap won't work and if Prop 1A is approved, voters will pay $16 billion more in taxes and California will continue to face budget deficits far into the future.

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association opposes this measure and so should you.

Response from Senator Dutton on Prop 1 A

Dutton did not stop Adams from voting on this measure (as was his duty as a republican), in fact he agreed to Endorse Adams for his re-election and to raise money for him. To me that makes him Complicit since he signed the no new taxes pledge and allowed a fellow republican to vote for it with his support.
