AD 63 Just Got More Interesting...

Supposedly...and if this post is correct- I am sure the Sun and the PE will be doing a story on it after reading this. Â
Redlands City Councilman Pete Aguilar, a Democrat who just won his first election to the Council in December 2007 after first being appointed to fill the vacancy left by Susan Peppler, may be throwing his hat in the ring for the Democratic nomination for AD 63.
This could actually be bad news for the Republicans. Â While usually the Democrats do not have a strong candidate for our Republican-held seats (think CD 41), Pete has the potential to be a very formidable candidate, especially considering his ties to Arrowhead Credit Union and how poorly all GOP state legislators did last time around.
I would still bet that the Republican would win, but I just don't think it will be as easy as it could be if the Democrats actually commit a legitimate candidate.

I know a few Dem's have thrown their hat in. They keep talking about how SB is now a "Blue" county and how they outnumber the GOP.
The problem they are going to have is that without a top-of-the-ticket marqee draw like Obama, they won't get the turnout.
I have already done some basic precinct analysis for the 63rd based on the last General, and I still feel very confident that we will retain the seat.

|Looks like you were wrong on all counts, Jessica. Petey is not running, the 63rd AD continues to trend Democratic and the 41st CD candidate got 100,000 votes against Jerry Lewis, more than has ever been achieved, at a cost of less than 10% per vote compared to what Lewis had to spend to hang on (of course that reflects only your hero Lewis' campaign cash; it does not consider all the millions of dollars of earmarks he directs to his campaign contributors).
