Obama's Healthcare Fantasy

It is generally known that Obama is pushing for universal healthcare based on the Medicare model and the European model.  Clearly, Obama is unrealistic and lives in a fantasy.  Obama wants to pretend that the U.S. government can take care of U.S. citizens better than we can take care of ourselves.  This liberal doctrine and philosophy is farcical.

Even with good intentions, liberal philosophies that have actually been put into practice have typically developed into unfortunate, inevitable conclusions.  In sharp contrast, conservative philosophies generally promote less government intervention in many areas of our lives including healthcare.

One conservative philosophy is that giving something away for free (e.g., money, healthcare, housing, etc.) often leads to disastrous and unintended consequences.  For example, since President Johnson instituted his war on poverty during his presidency, over a trillion dollars have been spent to eliminate poverty in the U.S.  Unfortunately, this liberal effort has resulted in more poor and more expectations from the poor for free entitlements, including free money, free housing, and now free healthcare.  As an unintended consequence, Johnson's war on poverty has created a liberal sense of entitlement instead of a conservative sense of work ethic.  As a result, this liberal sense of entitlement is now passed from generation to generation.  Instead of depending on the government for everything, seek independence, autonomy, and prosperity under your own volition.

In the European and Canadian universal healthcare model, taxpayers pay an enormous 50% income tax rate to wait in line for hours sometimes days to receive their entitled universal healthcare.  In Canada, if you need a heart operation, you go on a list and a group of government employed individuals decide whether you meet the requirements for heart surgery.  If you don't meet the requirements, such as being too old, having other pre-existing conditions, etc., then you are left to die for lack of proper medical treatment.  Or, you go to the US and pay for the heart surgery yourself.  Many Canadian citizens travel to the U.S. for immediate care or if they need an expensive (now rationed) procedure, such as an MRI.  The Canadian universal healthcare system does not work, and since it is generally modeled after the British universal healthcare system, chances are European universal healthcare doesn't work either.

The Medicare model is not perceived to be the answer for universal healthcare either.  Much of the rising costs of Medicare are due to fraud, which is generally known to be at least 32%.  Look it up.  In addition, much of the increased healthcare costs, including premiums, are due to the need of healthcare providers to offset the cost of the uninsured, illegal aliens, etc., who regularly go the ER for minor medical needs and rarely pay their bills.

Moreover, some areas of the country have lower health insurance rates than California and New York.  Currently, residents in California, for example, are not allowed to cross state lines to buy health insurance from any other state, such as Nevada or Arizona.  McCain proposes changing the law to improve competition, which will lower consumer premiums.  In addition, residents of the U.S. cannot deduct their health insurance premiums on their taxes.  In response, McCain proposes providing a $5,000 tax deduction for health insurance premiums regardless of income.  Actual income taxpayers will benefit from this.

Clearly, McCain understands that entitlement spending is out of control, universal healthcare is unnecessary, and there is a more realistic approach to assisting U.S. taxpayers with their needs.  Support McCain.  McCain has your back.
