From the Sun: McCain Has Essentials

Here's the piece I wrote that was featured in today's Sun regarding the presidential debate:
"I am confident about the American economy." Really, Obama? Weren't you the one who just criticized McCain for making similar comments?
I also found it rather ironic that Sen. Obama was toting about the fact he wants to make the lives of middle-income Americans less burdensome. Is that by raising taxes to pay for your massive new government spending? Is that by stealing from hard-working Americans- many of whom have 2 jobs like you said? Is that by raising taxes for 50% of small businesses like your proposed plan will do? Is that by voting 94 times to increase taxes or voting against tax breaks on your fellow Americans?
"Let's look at our records rather than our rhetoric," stated Sen. McCain. I couldn't agree more. McCain has a record of addressing problems before they become crises- as was seen several years ago when he addressed potential issues with our housing market, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac-, etc. -all of which turned out to be not so potential after all. McCain's leadership on addressing critical issues, ranging from economic to environmental- prove he has the wisdom, knowledge, and foresight to take on the issues facing Americans.

Jessica, with all due respect, is your comment criticizing Obama's "confidence" statement for real? Do you not see the difference between saying the "fundamentals of the economy are strong" and saying you have confidence in the economy rebounding? The fundamentals of the economy are not strong - that has been clear for the last two years, at minimum. Someone as connected as McCain should know not to make that statement as it's undeniably incorrect.
On his record, why didn't McCain use his ability to "address problems before they become crises" when dealing with Keating and the Savings and Loan issue?
Since we come from two different sides of the fence, I'm sure we'll agree to disagree, I just thought your comment was interesting.
