Dr. Paul Chabot, a resident of Rancho Cucamonga in San Bernardino County, recently completed a tour of duty in Iraq where he served as a Lieutenant Intelligence Officer working with Joint U.S. and Coalition Special Operation Forces, known at Task Force 714. During his mobilization, he worked in the area of human intelligence traveling throughout Iraq and authored a military strategy to defeat al Qaeda, worldwide, which is currently being circulated throughout the international military and academic community.
Dr. Chabot began his federal service as an intern for Congressman Lewis (R-Redlands), working first in his district office in the summer of 1995 and the following summer in his D.C. Capitol Hill office. After grad school, he was selected and served for two-years as a Presidential Management Fellow in the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy which led to his promotion as a White House Senior Advisor he held for another four-years. His Federal work experience includes assignments with the Department of Justice, U.S. Attorney's Office as a Program Coordinator for a narcotics unit countering domestic methamphetamine production, and later with the State Department assessing counter-narcotics and anti-terrorism programs.
He has 8-years of military service as a Naval Intelligence Officer. He began with training at the Office of Naval Intelligence followed by assignments with the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Joint Chiefs of Staff within the Pentagon's National Military Command Center. He held top-secret clearances for both his White House and military positions. After moving back to California in 2005 he served with the Fleet Intelligence Training Center and as Assistant Deputy to the Reserve Intelligence Area Commander, followed by his most recent assignment, before deploying to Iraq, to the Navy's 3rd Fleet's Homeland Security Syndicate.
Dr. Chabot has over 18 years of law enforcement service with experience at the city, county and state levels, starting at the age of 16 as a volunteer sheriff explorer, followed by a position as a community service officer, then as a reserve deputy sheriff assigned to patrol, and later elevated to a narcotics unit, with specialized anti-gang training and service. He also served as a police officer in Los Angeles with the University of Southern California and was awarded his department's highest award for service - the Meritorious Service Medal.
Dr. Chabot serves as a professional speaker & consultant (www.paulchabot.com), traveling the nation speaking on leadership, substance abuse education, and community service. He offers his services pro-bono to benefit volunteer efforts targeting youth drug use in the Inland Empire and around the nation. He is a guest lecturer of the University of Southern California's Delinquency Control Institute (and graduate of the 108th class) and has provided keynote presentations in nearly all 50 states, including WestPoint Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy and numerous White House conferences, nationwide.
He is active with his fraternity alumni, holding the position of district governor to the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He is a board member of Law Enforcement Exploring, and is an associate of the California Gang Investigators Association, the California Narcotic Officers Association Coalition, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and is a Freemason.
Dr. Chabot has a bachelors degree in administration from California State University at San Bernardino; a masters of public administration from the University of Southern California and a doctorate (Ed. D) in Executive Leadership from the George Washington University. His dissertation focused on and developed methods to dismantle sophisticated criminal/terrorist organizations. He holds certifications in studies from the Georgetown University, the State Department's Foreign Service Institute and a number of law enforcement academies.
Dr. Chabot and his wife Brenda established a nationwide non-profit entitled the Freestyle Foundation (www.freestylefoundation.org) and created the Inland Valley Drug Free Community Coalition (www.ivdfc.org) to counter drug abuse trends in the Inland Empire.
He is currently completing his military reserve mobilization at Joint Special Operations Command. He will join Red County San Bernardino upon completing his active duty service in the coming months.
