In San Bernardino, Honesty is a Four Letter Word

Another day, another lie.
Another day, another contradiction.
Another day, another untruth.
Another day, another misstatement.
Another day, another joke.
For all the big government do-gooders out there that want to police every aspect of our lives, like banning trans-fat and installing red light cameras on every intersection (in the name of safety, duh!), we the people should be allowed to attach a lie detector to them so that we can see through all the "BS".
You know, I am knee deep and out of boots.
The San Bernardino Sun has shined the light once again on the ever present "he said, she said" at City Hall. In the latest article about the hiring of Interim Director Wayne Harp, the subject of Assistant Director Marianne Milligan is discussed by Mayor Morris and City Attorney Jim Penman.
Logically, you would think that the Assistant Director of Code Enforcement would be more than capable of stepping up and filling as the Interim Director for a couple of months, right? Especially when that Assistant Director was prompted to run and had the unqualified support and resources of the Mayor in a run for City Attorney.
Not so fast my friend!
"She made it clear that she is planning to return to law practice," Morris said. "She took herself out of consideration."
Milligan did not respond to calls for comment, but Penman disputed Morris' statements.
"Neither she nor anyone else in the department was ever in consideration by the city manager," Penman said.
Now Penman and Morris both have their allies and their critics. But, obviously, there is a blatant contradiction here. Given the fact that the Press Enterprise reported (and later cleansed the article) that Morris & Company had privately encouraged Fred Wilson to look for a new job, but yet maintained that they were not pushing Wilson out the door, their credibility is shot.
I have no idea who is telling the truth here, but the Mayor's comments do not make any sense. We are talking about being the Interim Director of Code Enforcement. Is Milligan returning to law in the next two weeks?
