Assessor Bill Postmus for Vice President?

First, congratulations to Jessica Austin for her post late last night. It seems she was one of the first, if not the very first, to publish the fact that John McCain had selected Sarah Palin as his Vice Presidential running mate.
Anyway, I don't really mean that Bill Postmus should be considered as a vice presidential candidate. But when one examines the résumés of both Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and San Bernardino County Assessor Bill Postmus, a few interesting observations can be made.
First, in 2006, Bill Postmus received more votes for the Office of Assessor than Sarah Palin did for the Office of Governor--158,751 for Postmus, and 114,697 for Palin.
In addition, the population of San Bernardino County is more than three times that of the State of Alaska. During his two years as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, Bill Postmus served as the closest equivalent to a "Governor" of San Bernardino County.
Of course, the two individuals diverge when it comes to ethics. In 2004, Palin resigned from her position as an ethics commissioner in protest of the "lack of ethics" among other Alaska Republicans. After resigning, she exposed the state GOP's chairman as doing Party work on public time. Sound familiar?
This isn't, of course, an article in support of Postmus trying to get on a Presidential ticket in 2012. It is as much a commentary on the large size of San Bernardino County, or, perhaps, the small size of the State of Alaska. Los Angeles County has even better examples, to be sure, with a population 14 times that of Alaska.
That said, I really like what I've read and seen of Gov. Palin. She does round out the ticket well in terms of ideology. However, the McCain campaign will be hard pressed to spin Palin as bringing as adding a great deal of executive experience to McCain's legislative credentials. After all, Assessor Bill Postmus has earned more votes in an election, and has overseen a jurisdiction with a far greater population--as have, perhaps, as many as a hundred local elected officials throughout the country.

It's Vice President, not President of Vice
Zing! That's one of the funniest comments I've read here on Red County.
I bet San Bernardino County consumes more than 3 times the meth that Alaska does, and certain of our elected officials even more.
Well ... here's one difference -- I mean when it comes to their own drug of choice.
Statement Made During Her Run For Gov:
Palin doesn't support legalizing marijuana, worrying about the message it would send to her four kids. But when it comes to cracking down on drugs, she says methamphetamines are the greater threat and should have a higher priority.
Palin said she has smoked marijuana -- remember, it was legal under state law, she said, even if illegal under U.S. law -- but says she didn't like it and doesn't smoke it now.
"I can't claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled."

So Bill Postmus opposes the legalization of medicinal marijuana but is addicted to meth.
Governor Palin admits smoking marijuana at one time, but thinks meth is a very dangerous drug.
