This is the latest news coming from Senator George Runner's office. Our fellow RC SB blog pen member Drew Mercy has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Staff for the Senator. Congrats, Drew! Keep up the good work over there.
Senator George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today announced staff changes at his Antelope Valley district office in light of longtime district director Donna Termeer's departure to serve as executive director for the Antelope Valley Family YMCA.
"I am saddened to see Donna leave 'Team Runner' but delighted she will continue to serve the people of the Antelope Valley," Runner said. "A problem solver with a can-do attitude, Donna has been an invaluable asset to this office and the people it serves."
Slated to fulfill the role of district director is Lisa Moulton, a resident of Antelope Valley for 40 years and aide to Assemblywoman Sharon Runner. She will supervise all personnel and manage district operations.
Moulton's past political experience includes coordinating the Antelope Valley 2000 and 2004 Bush-Cheney Presidential Campaign Headquarters. Prior to joining Assemblywoman Runner's staff, Lisa worked as a pre-school director and teacher.
"Lisa with her many years of experience in politics and serving constituents in the Antelope Valley will take over the helm seamlessly from Donna. We are glad to have her on board," Runner said.
Drew Mercy, an aide to Senator Runner, will be elevated to deputy chief of staff in the Antelope Valley district office where he will handle district policy issues.
Mercy, a Quartz Hill High School graduate, has also worked as an aide to former Sen. William J. "Pete" Knight and Assemblywoman Runner. In 2006, he took a leave of absence from Senator Runner's office to successfully manage the campaign of Republican Assemblyman Anthony Adams, of Hesperia. In 2008, he took a similar leave to serve as Palmdale Mayor Pro Tem Steve Knight's Assembly campaign manager in the June Primary.
"Drew will continue to serve this office but in a leadership position that will further utilize his well-rounded experience," Runner said.
