On the Postmus-Watson Interview
Posted by: SB Pietas | 07/15/2008 7:14 AM
Last week, I posted San Bernardino Sun metro editor George Watson's story on his interview with County Assessor Bill Postmus. In that post, I considered the possibility that the story may consist of significant hyperbole. As respectable a reporter as George Watson is, he is a columnist now, and can take greater liberties with his writing.
Later, an audio recording of the interview was posted on the San Bernardino Sun's website. Click here to access that MP3 file directly. Based on that recording, I believe it is safe to say that the interview between George Watson and Bill Postmus was described with reasonable accuracy in his story.
What has happened to Bill Postmus? A man who was once talked about as a contender for Jerry Lewis' congressional seat is now a mumbling, stuttering political weakling. How does Assessor Postmus expect to execute the duties of his office, a political office, without being able to perform well during a 30 minute interview with a reporter?
I also find many of the topics discussed in the interview to be interesting. Many of them I've never heard discussed before. It will be interesting to see if any of the questions asked by Watson, which are now public, lead to any further developments in this story.
