First US-based aloft hotel opens in "Rancho Cucamongo"

I think Red County San Bernardino needs a lighter post for once...
Having such a hotel, with 136 high end rooms at a budget price, ought to be a stunning turning point in the Inland Empire, reversing decades of prejudice against the 909. However, this grand opening has been executed less than perfectly.
Look to the actual press release from aloft hotels, for instance, where Rancho Cucamonga is referred to as "Rancho Cucamongo." The press release then goes on to emphasize that HavenPark, which is the development where this new aloft hotel was built, is owned by a "L.A-based" company.
To add insult to injury, the great City of Rancho Cucamonga is then harshly criticized by a technology blog. No, I don't mean a high-end, technology industry blog. I mean a gadget blog--blog called Engadget. Yes, Rancho Cucamonga has been attached by a bunch of geeks. The nerds at Engadget called Rancho Cucamonga a "strange place for a ribbon cutting ceremony," among other things.
But wait, there's more. Not only did gadget nerds insult Rancho Cucamonga, but some hotel nerds also criticize the (debatably) finest city in the Inland Empire. Yeah. Hotel nerds. At least gadget nerds are an established species. Apparently, these hotel nerds are obsessed with exploring hotels, for their own sake, and not because they actually want to go to the destination. The hotel nerds announce the opening of the hotel with this line: "The Aloft Rancho Cucamonga near nowhere Ontario in Southern California has opened today." They go on to describe the location in their review: "Ontario is a seemingly random place to open Aloft. It's halfway between Los Angeles and Palm Springs in the ever-so-desirable-sounding Inland Empire."
We IEers can't win, can we?

I bet the hotel will be good for those who are performing/playing sports at the new citizen's business bank arena and also for overflow for conventions that the ontario convention center may have.
Its not a cheap hotel chain, at 163 a night, its more expensive than the leading Las Vegas hotels. :P
