City Manager Fred Wilson: "Liar, Liar! Pants on Fire"

"Liar, Liar! Pants on Fire. Fred Wilson's nose is as long as a telephone wire."
Bummer!
I leave the house to run some errands after my last post and come home to read that Robert Rogers, the omnipresent reporter for the San Bernardino Sun has beaten me to the punch on the expose of City Manager Fred Wilson's 'Pantheon of Lies'.
Over at his blog, SB Now, Robert Rogers gives us "tomorrow's story today".
Apparently, I wasn't the only one who saw holes in Wilson's explanations that were big enough to drive a Mack truck through. Only, instead of calling them lies, Wilson suggests he "misspoke".
In the DA report detailing the interview of Fred Wilson, it states the following:
Mr. Wilson stated that it was on July 1st that he first became aware of the e-mail from
Ms. Robinson dated June 27th, but he could not recall who told him about it.
However, in the San Bernardino Sun article that ran on Saturday, Fred Wilson was quoted thusly:
"What I told the DA was what happened," Wilson said. "I stand by what I told the DA investigators about these comments and the dates.
"I was notified that the police investigation was under way on July 1," Wilson added. "That's also when I first became aware of the e-mail; on July 1, when the police chief informed me about both.
Wow. Wilson told the DA what happened and he is standing by it! Never mind the fact that he immediately contradicts what he told the DA when he tells The Sun that Chief Mike Billdt informed him about the emails on July 1st in the very next line.
Obviously, Wilson didn't appreciate Glenn Baude telling the DA that he had informed Wilson on June 30th about the email from Glenda Robinson. In fact, Baude was put on leave immediately this Saturday following publication of the story. From Wilson's perspective, Baude clearly lied...er...misspoke to the DA, which merited some form of punishment. Now that Wilson clearly lied to the DA...check that...I mean "misspoke", I am sure that Wilson will announce tomorrow that he is also placing himself on leave.
Let's dissect this further. Nobody from the city alerted authorities at SBPD about the allegations in the email. Thus, it is preposterous for Wilson to suggest in The Sun article that Chief Billdt informed him about this email. And when pressed by Robert Rogers a la Jack Nicholson in "A Few Good Men" if he was clear, Fred Wilson responded, "Crystal!"
At least he was "crystal" clear Friday. Now...not so much. Undoubtedly, Rogers pressed Wilson on the fact that had Wilson known on July 1st about these allegations, why didn't he alert Mayor Morris? It would be problematic for Wilson to stick to the story he told the DA and then try to justify why he kept Mayor Morris in the dark.
