Chino Hills: Chino Hills Planning Commissioner Art Bennett announced today his candidacy for Chino Hills City Council to replace the vacated seat of Mayor Curt Hagman who recently won the Republican Nomination for the 60th Assembly District. Hagman has yet to formally endorse a candidate, however, he has indicated that Bennett would be a great addition to the Council because of his many years of  leadership, experience and community services for Chino Hills and his firm grasp of the planning and financial aspects of City government.

Art Bennett has lived in Chino Hills for 18 years with my wife of 41 years, Nickie.  The Bennett family lives in the Village Oaks area; have two adult children and two younger sons Brendan, 13 who attends Townsend Jr. High and Michael, 11 who attends Oak Ridge Elementary.

Bennett is a Vice President at National Property Tax Services, for Property Tax Assistance Co., Inc. in Bellflower, CA and holds a degree in Business/Real Estate and he has been employed in the Property Tax profession for the past 37 years as a consultant and Corporate Tax Manager.

His professional expertise has extended to his services as an instructor in the appraisal of real estate for property tax purposes and he has testified as an expert witness in State and Federal District Courts.

Bennett has proudly served as a Federal Grand Jury Foreman and currently holds memberships with several tax organizations, which, coupled with his many years of working with city, and county governments has provided Bennett with the experience necessary to serve on the governing board of Chino Hills.

Bennett's experience and training for Councilmember includes:

  • General Plan Advisory Committee (1993-94) - appointed by Councilmember Graham
  • Planning Commissioner (1995 to present, 3 terms as Chair) - appointed by Councilmember Rogers
  • Vice-Chair Townsend Jr. High Site Improvement Council & Band Boosters
  • Member, American Planning Association
  • Member, California Taxpayers Association (former Board member & Executive Committee)
  • U.S. Army, Viet Nam Veteran (1968-69)

For fifteen years, Bennett has served the City of Chino Hills in numerous volunteer positions, providing guidance for our growing community.

"Bennett's experience, talent, training  and commitment to the residents of Chino Hills will be an invaluable asset to city management and the challenges of public policy administration," explained Steve Spernak, Bennett's City Council Campaign Manager.

Bennett's vision and commitment for Chino Hills includes:

  • Enhancing Quality of Life - Growth has brought homes and businesses to Chino Hills. I am committed to assuring that any new development is of the highest quality.  It must be compatible with our rural heritage and provide for parks and recreational opportunities for our families.

  • Remaining the Safest City in San Bernardino County -As the 16th safest City in the US, I will continue to support our fire and sheriff's departments to assure that we continue this reputation.

  • Generating Sales Tax Revenues to Secure Chino Hills' Financial Future - Chino Hills can ensure its financial security by attracting and retaining businesses that share our vision and contribute to our economic security. I have been a part of the approval of every commercial development since 1995 in our City including the newest developments The Shoppes at Chino Hills, The Commons, The Courts and all the new Restaurants about to open.

  • Provide activities for our senior citizens and youth - Having two young boys in our schools and being a senior citizen, Bennett can personally relate to the needs of all ages in our City. Bennett is committed to better senior citizen activities and facilities and the development of business that will provide recreational activities and places for our youth to safely gather.

Chino Hills citizens who share Bennett's vision and commitment for a safe and dynamic Chino Hills are welcome to join his campaign team by sending an email to Steve Spernak at SSpernak@Cox.net  or communicate directly to Art Bennett at 909 851 7920.

All Chino Hills residents and associates interested in helping Art Bennett with volunteer and financial support  are cordially invited to attend his kickoff event on Thursday, July 24th , hosted by Melba and Jeff Mayes, at 3206 Giant Forest Loop, Chino Hills.

Your RSVP to the Mayes family at 909-627-9459 will be appreciated and your assistance in sharing with your friend's, neighbors and business associates will assure his success and coming service as Chino Hills' next Councilmember. And remember supporting the candidate with Experience, Integrity and Dedication is as simple as ABC.
