Meat Plant Surveillance Bill Fails in Assembly Committee

An Assembly panel rejected legislation Wednesday that would have required surveillance cameras in slaughterhouses to deter animal mistreatment, such as the secretly videotaped abuse of cows at a Chino meatpacking plant that led to the largest voluntary beef recall in U.S. history. Interesting to note our very own District Attorney Mike Ramos supported this bill- and I applaud him for doing so. I wish the other Republicans would have supported it as well.
