Gun Owners of California, the group founded by former California lawmaker H.L. "Bill" Richardson has come through with an endorsement of Steve Knight in the hotly contested 36th Assembly District Race. Here is the release.
Knight is the only candidate in the 36th District to receive an "A"
Palmdale - Republican Assembly candidate Steve Knight is the only candidate to receive an "A" rating from the Gun Owners of California (GOC) in his election for Assembly. The A-F grading scale rates representatives on how well they defend the Second Amendment. The candidate's record, mail questionnaires and personal interviews determine the grade.
The Gun Owners of California is an organization that fights for gun owner rights. GOC concentrates its efforts in the California political arena, seeking to defend the Second Amendment and oppose anti-gun legislation. Every election they provide voters with a rating of each candidate.
"As a police officer, I know first hand we can reduce crime by allowing law-abiding citizens to exercise their rights. The right to bear arms is something that is granted by the constitution and I am committed to protecting that right. In the Assembly, I will advocate for concealed weapons legislation," said Steve Knight.
Steve Knight is running to replace termed-out Assemblywoman Sharon Runner in the 36th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Adelanto, Palmdale, Lancaster, and Victorville.
Steve Knight served in the United States Army and currently works as a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department. Knight serves on the Palmdale City Council and is currently the Mayor Pro Tem. Steve lives in Palmdale with his wife, Lily, and his two sons.
