BOS 3 Update: Late Money Fueling Derry Campaign

A review of Form 497's filed with the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters last week, show late money in excess of $100,000 is allowing the Derry for Supervisor campaign to come up on the air with Pro-Derry ads. The ads are running on KFRG and KOLA, two popular Inland Empire FM radio broadcast stations.
In addition, a cable television spot funded by the San Bernardino County Safety Employees' Benefit Association (SEBA) taking dead aim at five-term Supervisor Dennis Hansberger is now running on a large spectrum of channels.
Sources indicate both, the radio and television buys will run through Election Day, June 3. The broadcast media drive appears to be augmenting a comprehensive Pro-Derry/Anti-Hansberger mail campaign that started over a month ago.
Official records also indicate total contributions raised by the Derry campaign from all sources has surpassed $700,000.

The fact that Derry has to try so hard, especially last minute, just show how hard of a fight this has to be. Obviously the incumbent is still doing very well for such a last ditch effort to come through. That being said, the incumbent must be very well liked by the voters in order for Derry to have to try so hard to beat him.
Intresting...
You must not have been paying attention over the last month. It looks like there has been a very organized team effort with billboards, signs, mailers, radio and TV supporting Derry and opposing Hansberger. There is no last ditch effort, it has been a continued push to June 3rd for a win!
Derry's numbers are jaw-dropping.
We are talking gigantic sums of money raised by a challenger against a well known incumbent.
This late push tells me that there are some folks out there who are convinced that this race is either super close or that Derry is leading and they want to close this thing out strong.
Smart people don't throw good money after bad and at this level, there has to be some evidence presented to some decision makers indicating that Hansberger is in trouble.
Win or lose, Derry has run a very solid campaign. And I must give some credit to Chris Jones, as well as SEBA and Derry's fundraisers.
