Poll: Third District Voters' Want Change

After nearly 20 years in public office, Supervisor Dennis Hansberger appears to be swimming against a wave of anti-incumbent sentiment.
Red County recently reviewed a poll conducted by the nationally renowned Wilson Research Strategies that reflects the sour mood of Third District voters'. Most importantly, 62% of respondents indicated it was time to give someone else a chance to represent the Third District, up from 48% in May 2007. Even worse was Hansberger's re-elect number, which has dropped into the basement at 23%, down from 32% in May 2007.
As a rule of thumb, longtime incumbents should have a re-elect number well above 50%.
For a former Board chairman, Hansberger's performance could be reflected in the overall approval rating of the Board of Supervisors floundering in the gutter at 19%. Interestingly, the poll in question was conducted March 16-17 and had a sample size of a hefty 400 likely voters. Larger sample size improves accuracy and lowers the margin for error.
Foreclosures, four dollar a gallon gas, budget deficits, and search warrants, all reinforce the voters' sour mood.
Watch the Third District. It could be the upset of the decade!

Those are some interesting numbers, but I should have expected nothing more considering the terrible job Mr. Hansberger has been doing representing the 3rd District.
I noticed a large increase in new information on Hansberger's web site. He must be feeling the heat. TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE!
I’ll tell you what Mr. Hansberger has done in office…he has antagonized his fellow Sups, has leaked information to the press, drove Biane to ask County Counsel if there was any protocol available in which to fire/remove/dismiss another Supervisor’s staff (mainly Hansberger's Chief of Staff Jim Foster). Do you know why Hansberger’s fellow Sups apparently support him??? It is because if Hansberger comes back this time as a Sup, his rein is over. He will have served his 2-term limit and they don’t want to see him back on the Board...ever…they want to be rid of him for good.
