1985: A Trip Down Memory Lane With Hansberger The Lobbyist

The average "Jane or Joe Lunchbucket" that will be looking at the race for Third District Supervisor, will undoubtably be under the impression that five-term County Supervisor Dennis Hansberger has served all of his terms on the board consecutively. But, in reality that is farthest from the truth.
Between 1988 when Hansberger left the Board of Supervisors until his re-emergence in 1996, the Supervisor was a lobbyist representing various business interests before the County's Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.
It now appears based upon his declared issues on his campaign website, that Hansberger is out to remake himself into this community-based caring man with a focus on the environment, public safety, and open government. Could Hansberger really care about all these issues?
Never in a million years.
Take a look at this article reprinted in the Hesperia Leader, originally published in the San Bernardino Sun on June 16 & 17, 1985. I was sent this tidbit by a friend who wanted to give me some true insight into the real Hansberger in action. The exchange in the article gives a candid look at business shoving the little guy around.
It's true. The past does haunt you. Believe me, I know.
