The Howard Jarvis Taxpayer's Association has issued its coveted endorsement to San Bernardino City Councilman Neil Derry in his bid to unseat five-term incumbent Supervisor Dennis Hansberger.
Derry who has successfully engineered a series of reductions in his city's utility tax is proving to be a strong challenger in this head to head race set for June 3.
Research of newspaper archives reveals that in 1978 Hansberger opposed Proposition 13 during his bid for the California State Assembly. However, due to his position on the property tax initiative, the heavily favored Hansberger lost the Assembly election to none other than the Honorable Bill Leonard.
