AD 63 UPDATE: Possible Democratic Challenger Emerges To Popular Republican Assemblymember Bill Emmerson

A possible Democratic candidate has emerged for California's 63rd Assembly District, a constituency now held by popular two-term Republican Bill Emmerson. Jonathan Abraham, of Redlands, is meeting district voters and passing out business cards that identify him as a "candidate for state assembly."
Democrat Abraham has also taken papers from the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters to seek his party's nomination in the Southern California district.
The 63rd Assembly District is 43% Republican and 35% Democratic in voter registration, meaning Abraham has a nearly impossible task of beating Emmerson, whose general election numbers actually increased from November 2004 to November 2006. Assemblymember Emmerson's most recent results are all the more impressive given he had a very active Democratic opponent in 2006 and the overall poor election year for GOP nominees nationwide.
Not much is known at the moment about this quixotic presumptive challenger to Emmerson, but click here to view Jonathan Abraham's business card. Specifically, check out the area code to directly contact the candidate.
It is not a 909 area code or a 951 area code, the area codes associated with the 63rd Assembly District. It is from area code 646. That area code is for telephone connections in the state of New York. New York City to be precise.
However, there is some good news for Mr. Abraham, as further research reveals that Area Code 646 actually IS located in the 63rd Assembly District and many telephone users in Area Code 646 also reside in the 63rd...
New York State's 63rd Assembly District, that is.

The business card I got from him had a 909-581-XXXX number on it. I guess he updated his cards.
