While New York City may have taken a beating from a Godzilla-like monster in the fictional breakout movie hit Cloverfield, it is the Big Apple's real ex-mayor's presidential candidacy that is taking hits rivaling those given to the mysterious monster that enthralled moviegoers this past weekend.
Three new public polls show former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani losing his home state to the suddenly surging campaign of Arizona Senator John McCain in the Empire State's Republican Party's presidential primary.
Here is how the numbers now stack up in New York:
McCain: 24%
Giuliani: 21%
Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney: 14%
McCain: 36%
Giuliani: 24%
Romney: 10%
McCain: 34%
Giuliani: 19%
NOTE: McCain holds a lead of twelve in one poll, fifteen in another survey, and just three points the the final poll. Add all three of these margins together, divide by three, and the number you get: Ten.
Ten being the number between 9 and 11.
Perhaps avoiding early contests in Iowa, Wyoming, New Hampshire, Michigan, Nevada and South Carolina may not have been a good strategy for Rudy after all.
