Inland Empire State Senate Race Off To Spirited Start

Since our good friends at Red County Riverside are apparently busy with other projects, I thought it would be worth posting this story that ran in today's Riverside Press Enterprise.
The PE's piece by Michelle DeArmond focuses on a political flier produced by the Riverside Taxpayers Association that was done as an independent expenditure in support of one of the two Republican Party primary candidates for Riverside County's 37th State Senate District.
The two hopefuls are Assemblymember John Benoit (AD 64) and former Assemblymember Russ Bogh (AD 65). As a legislator, Bogh represented both Riverside and San Bernardino County.
Here is an excerpt from the Press Enterprise:
The race between two powerful Inland Republicans fighting for a state Senate seat is getting nasty even though the primary is six months away.
Former Assemblyman Russ Bogh, R-Beaumont, is battling Assemblyman John J. Benoit, R-Bermuda Dunes, to represent the Republican-leaning 37th Senate District, which stretches from Desert Hot Springs to Corona and includes Hemet, Lake Elsinore and Riverside. The GOP primary election is in June.
A glossy flier that says "John Benoit is a Gray Davis Republican" and includes a photo illustration depicting Davis -- a Democrat who was ousted as California's governor in a 2003 recall election -- whispering in Benoit's ear is circulating in GOP circles.

As an aside, with this GOP race brewing, hopefully Red County Riverside will step up and its site will return.

What a stupid move by bogh. Didn't he have an illegal or unethical county supervisor fund also? The guy is a sleaze ball.

I never considered handing out hit pieces at the registrars office to reporters as a good campaigning tactic because I figured something like this might happen.
Any campaign who uses those fools as consultants deserves stories like that. Are you listening, Kelly?
Bogh is horrible and his name id is like what 9%.
Russ Bogh is a Scum bag that only cares about climbing the political ladder like many politicos in San Bernardino…we don’t need another SB clone here in Riverside. Vote Benoit.
As usual Mr.Bogh is getting dirty, this time it's about Benoit. Depending on what happens in Feb 08 Supervisor Ashley could his next target.
It's funny watching the rats scramble to deny knowledge of Bogh's bogus taxpayer group. They pin it on Lou Monville and he heads for the door! The whole group reminds me of OJ's merry gang who were real tough going after the memorabilia until they got busted, then they couldn't rat each other out fast enough.

I heard that it was once said Judge not lest ye be judged, for in the same way you judge others you will be judged…. The quote goes on something to do with being a hypocrite but I thought it might be interesting if we take a closer look at the Man who has cast the first stone in this Senate race. Will he learn from his evil ways and go and sin no more? Those in Sin City say odds are against it.
So (and this could be fun) I declare that Hunting Season is Official open, (heads up to all the Bogh’s down in Boghville clean out your closets the bloggers are coming) Let it fly, dig deep, be shallow, whole truth, half truth, the first to link in a YouTube clip wins a prize! Call it what you will but I call it an experiment for my Poly Sci Class, heck if votefor theworst.com can keep Sanjaya on American Idol I think a few savoy bloggers could keep a Bogh out of the Senate.
