SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY (CA): America's Biggest "Red" County

Chaffey Community Republican Women Federated

Posted by: Red Writer | 12/04/2007 7:42 PM

NOTE TO READERS (October 16, 2008): The post below is from December 4, 2007. It was a post by an anonymous contributor announcing a breakfast meeting hosted Chaffey Community Republican Women Federated. However, the comments below are all posted today (nearly one year later) in reaction to a current and racially charged story being reported by major media outlets. It must be noted that the comments below are entirely misplaced and would be best communicated directly to the Chaffey Community Republican Women Federated.

Red County has absolutely no relationship or affiliation with the Chaffey Community RWF or their publications. We are appalled by the racial stereotypes linked to Obama in the club's recent newsletter. The club president owes an immediate apology and frankly, ought to step down.

Dear Ms. Fedele,
Do you really think it's okay to dehumanize your opponent? Do you really think it's okay to incite others to violence? Did you not think that the mud you threw at Obama would not immediately bounce back on you? Have you no shame? Really? Do you need a quick lesson in American history?
Here's one for you

You make me ashamed to share a nation with you.
The whole world is watching.
Shame shame shame on you.

Your newsletter commentary on Barack Obama is obscene, indecent and false. How dare you descend to such a level in this all-important election! It’s time for Republican women like you and your group to accept the fact that you have blindly supported a corrupt, misguided administration and that the people of America are fed up with it.

You should be ashamed of your behavior and recognize that you have only furthered the cause of defeat for your party and it’s candidates. It’s behavior like yours, which has pushed me into being a supporter for Obama, and the change he hopefully will bring.

When you finally get out of the mud and clean yourself up, do a little thinking about the damage you have done to yourself, the country and the people of American. You have displayed our political system at it’s very worst.

patrice said:

Mrs. Fedele,

With regard to the racist images your club has constructed of Sen. Obama, your excuses are an embarrassment. Obviously you are no better than those who post pornographic images of Sarah Palin.

And a German Jew - who else should know better the ravages of racism?

Shame, shame, shame.

Everyone should know how shameful you are.

RKRahlmann said:

Ms. Fedele,
So you claim that the images of fried chicken, watermelon, and ribs next to Obama was "just food."
Do you really expect us to believe that?
The least you could do is be honest in you racism. As it is, claiming you didn't mean to offend anyone makes you appear clueless.

tom said:

how do i get some of those bucks?

Samantha said:

Dear Mrs. Fedele,

You have shamed your country, your state, and conservative women everywhere. What you printed did not just "represent food." It was a blatantly racist stereotype. How can you be so hateful?

Lindsay said:

Ms. Fedele,

The fact that you would say that being Jewish excludes you from being a racist is absolutely offensive. If Joe Lieberman were running for president, and he was depicted with an unusually large nose and fistfuls of cash, you would be outraged. Your family history should make you more - not less - sensitive to the dangers of dehumanizing people. Need I remind you that there is a very fine line between calling someone a rat and exterminating them?

Shame on you.

richard block said:

Just when I think America has advanced beyond puerile racism, your flyer surfaces.

As a European, I now know what the true America is. I will be sure that your flyer is seen by millions and millions to expose the racist core of your country

I am a Jew too--and I am so ashamed of some of "us"--people like you are helping to renew hatred against US!!! Please, stop drinking the kool-aid now!

WS said:

I'm not going to shout aoutrage over ther acist images.

I will simply pray for your soul that you see the depths to which it has sunk.

JB said:

Ha Ha! Watermelon and Fried Chicken! That's Funny!

Since Fedele is Jewish, I think she'll find cartoons with hook nosed people grabbing at money to be just freaking hilarious!

Bill Bowman said:

You people ought to be ashamed of yourselves, but you won't be. You'll just sit back, cluck and ask, what's all the fuss? We were just having a little fun.

You epitomize everything that is wrong with this country.

There are many more things I'd like to write, but I am a gentleman.

You and your group, however, are trash.

Emmett Till. James Chaney, Michael Schwerner and Andrew Goodman. Addie Mae Collins, Denise McNair, Carole Robertson and Cynthia Wesley.

Know who they are, Mrs. Fedele?

Shame on you, Diane Fedele.

"If it offended anyone," you said. If it offended anyone? It offended America, Mrs. Fedele.

Horatio said:

"I absolutely apologize to anyone who was offended. That clearly wasn't my attempt."

Clearly? Really? I'd say your intent was clearly racist.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

there is a special place in hell for "women" like you.

Ms. Fedele, your blatantly racist statements and images are appalling and an insult to Republican values. How dare you shame our party with such hateful behavior. If you had any honor, you'd resign immediately.

Ms. Federle and members of the Chaffey Co. Republican Women Federated:

As these things normally get out, I found out about and saw a reproduction of your "money" mailer regarding Senator Obama with welfare, KFC, Kool Aid, etc., and it broke my heart.

How shameful. How heartbreaking. How obscene. How racist and elitest. And how hurtful--to all of you. I've never understood how grown men and women can contribute so miserably to the world and choose to honor themselves and give their gifts in this way, but it does happen. Fear of what we don't understand or don't want to comprehend often brings out the worst in us, doesn't it?

As we say in the south, bless your heart. Seriously.

Jennifer said:

I wonder if Kentucky Fried Chicken and Kool-Aid know that you used their images to spread racist filth.

You should be ashamed, although I doubt you have it in you. How dare you use your heritage to try to excuse your behavior.

Karen said:

What are you afraid of? Tolerance, acceptance of all people? This is precisely why the Republicans won't and shouldn't win. Please get some psychotherapy so you can discover the root of your hatred. Hate has no place in America, Ma'am', and you have just participated in an obscene display of it. Shame, shame, shame on you. I feel sorry for you and hope you get help soon.

You people are despicable. This is not the Republican party that I was raised in. Since when it is acceptable to reduce your opponent to racist stereotypes? You women should be ashamed of yourselves. I shudder to think what type of little racists you are raising.

http://www.pe.com/politics/dearmond/stories/PE_News_Local_S_buck16.3d67d4a.html

this is what the discussion is referring to.

Problem is we have a horrible time attracting minority groups to the Republican Party locally and statewide. One leading activist in Chino stated, they don't even hire many black people in their offices in this region such as congress/state legislative/supervisor. I know there are many great Republicans of all ethnicities, religions and other demographic groups. The goal is to be inclusive without sacrificing much of the party platform or principles.

Sadly this will be a distraction, but we absolutely need some self-examination from all corners of our party after this election.

Madam...either you extremely ignorant...or a you are a lair. In either case, you are a prime example of why I no longer vote for the republican party.

Groo said:

Excellent. Keep up the good work. The more you push lies and trash the more absurd you look. You lose all credibility when you insist on debating at the level of a middle schooler with self esteem issues, i.e. the photo of McCain/Palin in contrast to a caricature of Obama/Biden. Seriously, grow up.

I've always said that the Ridiculous Right would die choking on it's own vomit and here's further proof.

ms fedele doesn't believe the flyer was racist - she doesn't think in racist terms. well, then, she's stupid. that's the only alternative, so take your pick ms. fedele. and at least she didn't say "i have black people as friends" but almost as bad "i voted for alan keyes". yegods. what a maroon, as bugs bunny used to say. and she gave the non-apology apology "i apologize to anyone who was offended". meaningless. what she should have said, but won't, is "i did the wrong thing. i'm sorry". what an idiot.

Dear Ms. Fedele and the Women of Chaffey Co. Republican Women Federated:

I wanted to let you know how appalled I am regarding your offensive 'Obama Bucks'. I find it bone chilling that members of the California Republican Party are engaging in race-baiting and inciting hate speech such as this. Where are the Judeo/Christian values of love, understanding and doing unto others in this?

I ask you to think about the damage you do to other, more honest and hard working Republicans by portraying your party as petty, childish hatemongers. At what price the future of your party in such a desperate attempt to win this election?
I'm no stranger to voting for Republicans, and in my state of Washington we have some fine ones doing great work. You do them and other Republicans throughout the country a great dishonor with your gutter tactics.

Hate and promoting ignorance is no way to win an election. No honorable way. Where are your REAL solutions? People are losing jobs, retirement investments and houses, and your solution is a gross racist caricature of Obama on a food stamp?

I urge you and your party to focus on the ISSUES at hand instead of appealing to your fringe base thereby scaring the heck out of the 80% of us folks who are not that extreme and ready to hate.

Thank you so much for reading my comment.

Diane Fedele,

I would call you a scumbag, but that would be unfair to scumbags. Why do people like you and your VP candidate think that everyone is as stupid as you are?

You lie about things that are easily dismissed as lies and expect people to believe it. Just because you are easily duped does not mean that everyone is.

How do you live with yourself?

tommy said:

I recommend to anyone that has a copy of the aforementioned newsletter and/or the images spoken of here, and is offended by it, to forward it EVERYWHERE- your local or not-so-local press, websites and blogs, etc. Don't you think that Ms. Fedele and her organization's recent newsletter deserve a little MORE press and internet exposure?

Annette said:

You say that you just looked at the items as "just food", you can't be that stupid!!!!! You are so pathetic I almost feel bad for you, almost.

Laura Bowers said:

You and your ilk are the reason that the GOP is going down in flames. I come from a long line of Republicans, some of whom thought this type of thing was funny - back in the '60's. You are the reason that we have left the GOP and are now supporting the Obama Campaign.

You can say 'you didn't mean it' all you want to, but it doesn't wash. That type of 'apology' sounds like what a teenager does when they're caught in the act of breaking the rules, but isn't yet adult enough to own up to it. You are a shame and a disgrace. I'm sure that you are sitting around sipping coffee with your Junior League friends, patting yourself on the back and telling each other that we're just all a bunch of bleeding hearts. Well, honey, I guarantee we aren't, and we hope everyone in this beautiful country realizes what you really are.

FOR SHAME.

Jackson said:

Goodness gracious, you fail. Fail, fail, fail.

Charlie Chew said:

All I have to say is that you ladies had better save up your "Obama bucks" to buy plenty of ribs, fried chicken and watermellon to go with the crow you will be eating after November 4th ... bon apitite!

Alan Coleman said:

What world do you live in that you wouldn't know that cartoon wouldn't be considered racist and hateful?
If you really believe that drivel, then why did it show Sen. Obama eating a truly American food, like a hotdog, driving an Chevy and eating a piece of apple pie? HUH?

Jill Goodman said:

What a horrible, horrible group you are.

This election has shown your true colors and now all the world will see them.

You are a racist and now you are also a liar for claiming "it's just food".

You have brought humiliated yourself and brought shame upon your families.

You are everything that is wrong with the Republican party.

What a disgrace.

diane said:

You are a disgrace and should be ashamed of yourself. Do you think that anyone is so stupid as to believe that you viewed it as just food! Would you appreciate a dollar bill with your face, a matzo ball and a swastika?

You are one of the million reasons that this country is in the dump....grow up!

Karen C said:

First, the GOP in Sacramento posts a picture advocating Sen Obama be waterboarded. Then you think it's a good idea to send out a blatantly offensive racist caricture of Sen. Obama on the face of a food stamp.

California is a tolerant state, but we do NOT tolerate your hate mongering.

SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON YOU, SHAME ON YOU.

Karen said:

Ms. Fedele,

Thank you for reminding us that racism isn't dead, and isn't even subtle in today's GOP. What happened to standing up for what you believe in, instead of tearing someone else down? You are a disgrace to this country, and an embarrassment to your race.

People are disgusted by the GOP not only for their policies, but also for their supporters.

Jeffrey said:

Dear Red County,

Pictures of fried chicken, watermelon, and ribs alongside a picture of a black man was "just food." ......RIGHT.

You are SO out of touch it's pathetic. Out of touch on the economy, out of touch on environment, out of touch on health care, and ever so obviously out of touch on RACISM!

HB said:

Congrats on helping McCain lose the election.

Cynthia Ward said:

Those of you who are outraged by the Chaffey Community Repulican Women's newsletter: THIS IS NOT THEIR WEBSITE.

It seems unlikely anyone associated with the group did much more than post this announcement.

Chris said:

This is what it has come to? You have no other way to get your point across but to insult a whole race of people. Look in the mirror and decide the type of person you have become, and if you like what you see.

Tom Nevin said:

When McCain is defeated by the better man, Obama, you can blame yourselves. This racist garbage is disgusting and you new Republicans have only yourselves to blame.

mikey dee said:

There's a big tent for Republicans and you're all invited in. To laugh at the racist humor. To pretend community organizers are a bad thing. To pretend it's just the "fringe" who are racist.

Karen said:

You are one SICK puppy. Please remove yourself from the Human Race. Actually, you are what we call a domestic terrorist - someone who takes their position of power no matter how small using a despicable visual to coerce others to your own personal shortcomings meanwhile promoting hate, pure and simple. I am ashamed we share the same nation together. People like you have no place in the 21st century.

Did you mail out Klan robes with that newsletter?

Utterly disgusting.

Ms. Fedele,

How does it feel to be the poster child for blatant racism in 21st century America?

Don't forget your hood when you have your photo taken for the "Racists Anonymous" calendar.

I thought we in the US had progressed a bit further than this.

You should be ashamed.

Racist sleazebags.

thank you. You do more for the Obama cause and more damage to McCain than the Democrats could ever hope to do themselves.

D. Gusted said:

Ms. Fedele,

Your ignorance is "just food" for racism.

Step down now.

Scot Marvin said:

As the white father of a black daughter, I was appalled to see your blatant racist display of Obama.

Thanks for making life more difficult as now I have to explain to my daughter why adults--the same adults who tell children to act well and be kind to one another--do stupid and insensitive things solely in order to win an election.

Then I'll have to tell her why adults can't focus on issues but rather, instead, have to promote fear and stereotypes and racism.

And finally, I'll have to tell her why some adults play dumb when they've been caught, because they don't have the nerve to defend their actions, nor the courage to apologize for their offensive behavior.

Nice job, ladies.

You and your organization are a disgrace to God-fearing and patriotic Americans.

Nate said:

The Chaffey Community Republican Women not only sicken me, but they deeply sadden me as well. Their organization represents the worst kind of people in this country: ignorant fools. That you stoop to using cheap, vulgar, and flat out racist imagery to demonize someone who simply shares different political views than you is pathetic, and demoralizing to the rest of us. You should be deeply ashamed, all of you.

Jeff said:

Have you no sense of decency? At long last have you left, no sense of decency?

Teri in Texas said:

WOW, that was really classy.

Depictions of watermelon, Barbequed ribs, Fried Chicken, and Kool-Aide and you say "I never connected." "It was just food to me. It didn't mean anything else." I tell my children when they try this kind of obvious subterfuge that neither my intelligence nor theirs is low enough for me to take that seriously. Admit you were depicting a very racist stereotype and regain some of your honor.

“I supported Alan Keyes?” Next thing you’ll tell us is that some of your best friends are Negros! This is not an excuse, it is something racist people say to deflect attention from their actions.

Maybe you should stop making excuses and do some serious introspection. It saddens me that people who perpetuate these ideas must exist in the world that I raise my children in. You should be deeply ashamed.
