SAN BERNARDINO CITY ELECTIONS UPDATE: Ward Five Candidates In Your Mailbox, Looking For Votes

Here is a brief roundup of campaign mail in the upcoming San Bernardino municipal election. From Ward Five, where four hopefuls are vying to represent this north San Bernardino district, comes two recent mailers from candidates Carolyn Tillman and Rick Avila.
Both Tillman and Avila are aiming to upend first-term Ward Five Councilman Chas Kelley.
Tillman, who works for the county Superintendent of Schools, is endorsed by San Bernardino Mayor Pat Morris, San Bernardino County Fifth District Supervisor Josie Gonzales, State Senator Gloria Negrete McLeod, and several local school board members (Democrats all). Tillman's mailer also spotlights her strong endorsements from area newspapers.
Avila, a contractor and small businessman, has a mailer that includes his campaign pledges and several photos of the candidate in action tackling a host of problems. To be topical, Avila has a photo of himself dressed in a polo shirt and baseball cap "putting out a fire" on San Bernardino's Little Mountain. On a slightly less topical scale, Rick Avila's mailer in support of his candidacy includes a quotation from President Woodrow Wilson. Looks like Avila went in-house on mail production.

The fourth candidate in the race is local bar owner Randy Lee.
