LIVE 9:01 PM UPDATE: McCammack Speaks To Penman Party
Posted by: SB Insider | 11/06/2007 9:11 PM
City Councilmember Wendy McCammack is now speaking to 100 supporters of the McCammack/Penman/Anderson party.
"Betty Dean Anderson is within striking distance" thundered McCammack to a wildly applauding crowd.
McCammack is now reporting what Red County reported minutes ago - there may be no further updates until late evening. The crowd let out an audible gasp.
Appearing confident of victory in her own race for re-election, McCammack implored her supporters to support Betty Dean Anderson in a likely runoff between Anderson and Rikke Van Johnson.
Anderson speaks - says she and her husband visited every home in the Sixth Ward. Her daughter, Elizabeth, is here leading her mother's supporters in applause and chants of "Bring Betty Back."
Jim Penman is speaking. Says he is pleased "I'm ahead...But I wish I was ahead even more. It looks like we are in for a long night, folks."
Jim Penman is explaining why there is a delay. He pleads for patience and understanding for the work of the county registrar.
Guests are wondering why "that red county website has results posted and nothing from the county registrar's office" or the greatest blog in town, "SB Now." (Well, at least in so many words)
Penman has stated that any guests who wish to leave may do so, due to the projected delay in reporting results.
Developing????
