Attention Local Candidates: Red County San Bernardino Presents A Cautionary Tale

Four more days until election day. Your campaign signs are up. Your mail is out. Precinct sheets are ready for homes to be visited by friends and supporters. Your call sheets ready for volunteer and automated phone calls.
What could possibly go wrong?
Probably nothing. As Campaign 2007 ends with nearly as much enthusiasm as when it began, the low-key affair will end in four days with as much excitement as algebra class.
Yet, while candidates and campaigns end their effort in a flurry of activity, for those campaigns that plan on employing automated robo-calls, you might want to check this story first:
Some 3,000 voters, including the candidate himself, were startled to get recorded campaign calls Thursday from Westchester County Legislature hopeful Domenic Volpe -- at 2 a.m.
"First of all, I hate those recorded messages," said one recipient, Eileen Curinga of Montrose. "But secondly, I didn't know whether this was sabotage or just stupidity. Either way, it's not right that somebody calls at 2 o'clock in the morning."
Just some free non-partisan advice from you friends at Red County San Bernardino.
Happy phoning!
