San Bernardino Sun Endorsements Surprising

Yesterday, I read the San Bernardino Sun editorial endorsing Jeff Sceranka and Jerry Bean for Redlands City Council. I was pleasantly surprised.
I figured Appointed Incumbent Pete Aguilar would be a lock and that Mr. Bean would be the other selection.
While I support Henry Nickel in his upstart bid to unseat the two incumbents, I didn't think he had a chance of getting the endorsement.
If you read the endorsement, the paper lays out rather sound logic and reasoning behind their decision.
So, I scratched my head and thought: "This is sorta strange."
Fast forward two days later and The Sun announces their endorsements in the two contested city-wide elections in San Bernardino: City Attorney and City Clerk.
The Sun endorsed incumbents Jim Penman and Rachel Clark. I was stunned to read the paper's endorsement of Jim Penman. Stunned. Rachel Clark, not so much.
In fact, I thought I had a snowball's chance in hell. However, even though I did not receive the endorsement, I was very pleased to read their favorable response to the tenets of my campaign.
That said, Turner has brought some intriguing ideas to the campaign, and we would encourage City Hall to explore them. Turner says he would cross-reference existing databases to find unlicensed rental properties and force them to obtain business licenses, and to monitor group homes for parolees and sexual predators.
I was again, stunned.
I have stated numerous times, that if anything else, I hope my campaign has provided others with the ideas and impetus to attack these core problems plaguing our city. I genuinely would like to see San Bernardino arise from the ashes, regardless of who is at the helm and I hope that I have added something to the debate and discourse in our community.

the sun's endorsement of penman: Shocking. Given the sun's recent ripping editorial of penman a few weeks ago, milligan must have bombed her interview??
