San Bernardino Sun Endorsements in SB Council Races

I am not really sure what the hell is going on over at the San Bernardino Sun. Their endorsements this cycle have been very surprising and their nods for SB Council were no different.
5th Ward: Challenger Carolyn Tillman
6th Ward: Challenger Betty Dean Anderson
7th Ward: Incumbent Wendy McCammack
The most shocking endorsement had to be Betty Dean Anderson over Morris' lap-dog, Rikke "The Brain" Van Johnson. Johnson has followed in lock-step with the mayor and was seemingly a lock to win the endorsement of The Sun.
Surprises abound after The Sun endorsed Wendy McCammack. Given the fact that the paper extolled the virtues of collaboration and an end to divisiveness, Mulvihill seemed likely to get the nod. He is very intelligent with a placid demeanor. His style seemingly meshed well with the mantra of peace and civility emanating from Gannett Parkway.
Initially, I wasn't surprised to see Carolyn Tillman receive the support of The Sun. I was expecting Tillman, Mulvihill and Johnson to secure the endorsements, along with Milligan and Clark, for City Attorney and City Clerk, respectively.
Upon reading the paper's statement, it became clear that Councilman Chas Kelley managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
My feud with Kelley has been of a personal nature, but with respect to job performance, he has done a nice job on the council. But, character and integrity matters and it is clear that The Sun endorsed Tillman, not because they thought Kelley wasn't doing a good job, but because Kelley's dishonesty has been revealed over the campaign.
Although the paper cite's Kelley's involvement on the illegal immigration issue, all of that was old information. And Kelley is far from a "card-carrying" anti-illegal immigration activist. It is simply an issue that he is not too passionate about.
However, on two separate occasions, Kelley feigned recollection of his signatorial support for the Illegal Immigration Relief Act that I authored. When I exposed his deceit by detailing not only his support in the media for my initiative, but also his personal signature and support in gathering a handful of other signatures as a circulator, he clearly alienated the powers that be at the paper.
Councilwoman Wendy McCammack supported the IIRA and has also spoken out about illegal immigration and expressed concerns about funds delineated for Operation Phoenix going to support illegal aliens in our community.
So, clearly, Kelley did not lose the endorsement by being associated with my work or the issue, but because he was less than honest with Sun reporter Robert Rogers.
Ultimately, several incumbents would have been better served by not antagonizing me and simply ignoring the race, as opposed to endorsing my opponent.

Actually, the most surprised individual in all the Sun's endorsements has to be Mayor Morris when the only two candidates he endorsed failed to recieve the Sun's endorsement.
