Great Day For Rudy Giuliani As Boston Red Sox Celebrate World Series Victory With Parade

Former New York City Mayor - and one-time New York Yankees superfan - Rudy Giuliani today no doubt celebrated the Boston Red Sox' tremendous sweep of the hapless Colorado Rockies today in the 2007 World Series, professional baseball's championship competition.
Last week, as Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani campaigned for votes in Massachusetts, the longtime New york Yankees fan declared his support for the Yankees' fiercest rival. "I'm rooting for the Red Sox" stated America's mayor at a campaign appearance in Boston. "I'm an American League fan, and I go with the American League team, maybe with the exception of the Mets,."
The reaction from the media - especially New York media - was swift. "Mass-kisser" blared the New York Post. "Traitor" screamed the New York Daily News. Comments left on internet websites devoted to New York Yankees fans were even less kind
Cynical observers note that Rudy's Red Sox switch is not out of character for the two-term mayor. After all, Giuliani played both sides in the 1994 New York gubernatorial election, where he formally endorsed liberal Democratic icon Mario Cuomo's bid for a fourth term. Despite Giuliani's support, Cuomo was beaten by the GOP's George Pataki.
With New Hampshire being home to a large number of Boston Red Sox fans and being a key early-voting state, the fallout from Rudy Giuliani's blatant pandering for votes in that state's Republican Party presidential primary has won him no favors among voters. Recent public polling indicates Giuliani still trails genuine Boston Red Sox fan Mitt Romney by a significant margin in the GOP nomination contest among New Hampshire Republicans.
As Boston Red Sox players paraded through the streets of Boston to celebrate their championship victory, it still remains unclear if newly-minted Red Sox fan Rudy Giuliani took a break from campaigning for the Republican Party's presidential nomination to watch the celebrations of his new favorite baseball team.
