Spring Training in September

Being a political junkie and an avid fan of real baseball (i.e. the National League), there are two favorite times of the year for me: Spring Training and September.
Why September?
That is when the first wave of campaign yard signs start popping up like mushrooms on lawns throughout our city.
Rick Avila, who is challenging Councilman Chas Kelley, was the first to go up weeks ago. However, this past weekend, I saw the first Penman and Milligan signs.
Today, I saw the first Chas Kelley signs in his customary green and yellow. Although I have heard they are now hitting lawns throughout the 7th Ward, I have yet to see Wendy McCammack's.
I haven't been over on the westside this week, so I am not sure what, if anything, is going on in the 6th Ward.
But it is a fun time of the year for political junkies. I always marvel when I see a house with a sign and the next door neighbor with the opponent's sign in their yard. Good stuff.
Chas Kelley has also shelled out some bucks for a billboard on 40th and if history is any indication, he has probably lined up a few others in his ward. McCammack has also gone the billboard route and has at least two that I have seen near 30th and E and one on Del Rosa by the Native Sons.
Curiously, and I am not sure if there is anything to it, but Kelley's billboard and yard signs to don't have "re-elect" on them. Not sure if it means anything or not, but the omission caught my attention for some reason.
Finally, I have heard reports that my opponent Rachel Clark, has some signs that will be going up soon. I am curious to see what her signs look like since she has never had to campaign for office before.
