This week, the blockbuster smash "300" came out on DVD.

While it is an action packed piece with spectacular visuals, most are ignorant of the significance of this event in history.  The simple fact is that the brave stand at Thermopolyae by the courageous Spartans against the marauding Persians ensured the rise and preservation of Western Civilization.

Had Xerxes not been stopped at the pass and his advance halted, the Greeks would have never been able to organize the sea and land defenses to stave off the vast Persian army.

It is easy in America, seemingly removed from the horrors of war as we are inoculated significantly by bodies of water, to forget that there are battles between civilizations raging and that not too long ago, civilizations attempted to destroy and eradicate other civilizations.

Make no mistake.  Western Civilization is threatened from the East today, just as it has been in years past.  Unfortunately, with our rampant acquiescence to the doctrines of political correctness, not only do we have barbarians at the gate, we have the seeds of destruction blossoming from within.
