Staffer Spotlight: Elizabeth Watson, A Key Part of Team Adams

It is not often that Freshman Legislative Members are able to put together such a winning team in their Sacramento Offices, and Assemblyman Anthony Adams has exceeded that, and put together, to use a baseball metaphor, the Legislative Yankees.
One of the key members of that team is his Legislative Director, Elizabeth Watson. Elizabeth, like myself, was a Congressional Page, which many can tell you is a great start to a political career. As a Page, not only was Elizabeth the recipient of the Citizenship Award and was selected as the Speakers Page.
A political science major at Gonzaga, she spent time after graduation in the Peace Corps, working in Ukraine. She taught children English, and trained teachers on their methods of imparting information to students.
When she returned to California, she first spent time working for San Bernardino’s legendary Senator Bob Margett, and then moved over to two Orange County Representatives, first Ken Maddox (now Director of Legislative Affairs for BOE Member Michelle Steel) and Chuck Devore. Since moving over to Adams Office and becoming Legislative Director, she is successfully staffing over 14 bills, 9 of which are still alive. (a huge number for a Freshman Republican)
The people of Apple Valley can thank Elisabeth, for her diligence, as she helped pass legislation that will give the city increased regulatory power of group homes that house paroled sex-offenders. She is also working with the County of San Bernardino to criminalize the use of Salvia Divanorum a drug gaining popularity among young adults and legislation that will give the county greater flexibility in helping to place foster care children.
I am proud to make Elizabeth this weeks staffer of the week, and am confident she will continue her great work with the Assemblyman.

"Legislative Yankees"? I prefer to think of Assemblyman Adams as Terry Francona and his staff as the Red Sox of 2004 - one of the greatest teams in baseball history.
The Mariners are more like it.
Burt is a great find, but the lack of any pitching or hitting around Ichiro keeps the team in the basement.
Wow mike..."yankees?" What did you lose a bet to Adams?
