This evening, the 55,000 member strong Peace Officer's Research Association of California (PORAC) vote overwhelmingly to endorse San Bernardino City Councilman Neil Derry and 1st District County Supervisor Brad Mitzelfelt for new terms on the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors.
Derry is challenging five-term 3rd District Supervisor Dennis Hansberger in the June 2008 Primary Election, while Mitzelfelt who was appointed to fill the remaining term of former Supervisor Bill Postmus last January is seeking election to a full-term. Postmus was sworn in as San Bernardino County Assessor on January 8th.
Derry and Mitzelfelt received initial contributions of $2,500 and $500 respectively. Derry was viewed by the board as having a greater funding need of the two candidates.
This was another big endorsement catch for both candidates, particularly for Derry who along with Mitzelfelt just bagged the support of the San Bernardino County Safety Employees' Benefit Association (SEBA) last week. Derry is rapidly scoring major public safety endorsements and funding.
