Watching Assembly 10

So I've been watching Assembly District 10 and it's not been what I thought it would be. Former Supervisor Jack Sieglock and Mayor Jack Sander were going to be the big dogs, staffer Paul Hegyi a blip. But like many of the readers I've seen the mail and I think I'm going to make a call: it is a free for all. I'm starting to think Sieglock was bluffing on his money. Sander is about what I expected. Hegyi is running a strong campaign, and it looks like the independent expenditures are with him. Today I heard a number of times Sander has an illegal immigration issue... althought I HAVE NO MEANS OF SAYING IF THIS IS TRUE OR FALSE. I'll post some campaign literature when I learn how.

Thank you for the Opportunity

First of all, let me say what an honor it is to become a member of the Red County Team. I hope that I can live up to the standard my colleagues have set for me. I have found Red County to be a useful source of information and entertainment when it comes to center right politics in California. I pledge to work to ensure that Red County Sacramento plays an instrumental role in taking this blog to the next level.

For those of you who have not yet had the opportunity to read any of my stuff... Where the heck have you been? Just kidding.... Maybe....

I think that the name of my blog pretty much sums it all up. "The Home of Uncommon Sense" is where I comment on faith, family, politics and culture; trying to bring to them a little of what I call "Uncommon Sense". I call it uncommon, because as I am sure you are aware, common sense in not all that common.

As far as my politics, I consider myself a Christian conservative, right-wing black radical. (I know- a bit of an oxymoron. But I is who I is...) I cannot claim to have been a Republican all my life. However, I have always been relatively conservative. Like most blacks who grow up in urban settings, I always thought I was supposed to be a Democrat. That's just how it was. But as I got older and actually started to use my head for something besides a hat rack, I realized that the values of the Democrat party were profoundly different than the values I was raised with.

Since my conversion back in the early 90's I have been dedicated to exposing the hypocrisy of the left and trying to help free my fellow Americans from the bondage of psychological slavery that is the liberal mindset. More recently, I have also taken to debating my fellow GOPer's who have formed the "Anything to Win" wing of the Republican Party and are systematically working to undermine the core conservative values that attracted me to our party in the first place.

In case you haven't noticed yet, I like to debate; not so much because I enjoy being disagreeable. Rather, I believe that the great American experiment is at a major crossroad. Furthermore, I fear that the direction that the left would have us go will spell the end of us as a free and prosperous nation.

So, I hope you enjoy the fireworks and feel free to join in the debate. I only ask that you be respectful in your disagreement, accurate in your arguments and passionate in your advocacy. Anything less would be disappointing.
