I received the following e-mail from Katy Grimes:
Dear Sacramento Union readers: It is a sad day in Sacramento - again. Before you look for your Friday edition of The Sacramento Union, I wanted to tell you that it won't be there. In a letter to readers, Union Publisher and Editor-In- Chief James Dutra today announced today that The Sacramento Union is suspending publication.
Dutra wrote, "The Sacramento Union was developed to present a different voice for our community, a conservative one. I believe there is a greater need than ever to have publications serving our community who stand up and present a different point of view on the many challenging public policy issues of today and tomorrow.
I was aware when we first published in July 2006 that this would be a difficult project to develop, but the results of the past year demonstrated success.
Ultimately, we could not overcome the difficulties so many of our local businesses are encountering."
I am working to keep the Sac Union website updated, active and current, but it may take a couple of days...
The way things are going, we may not have any papers in Sacramento, soon.
