Congressman Ken Calvert Launches "American Energy Independence" Web Site

Though I've been a little too busy to blog on a regular basis this election cycle, I thought I could take a brief moment to pass on this item from Congressman Ken Calvert's office:
RIVERSIDE, CA (September 18, 2008) --Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-44) today announced the official launch of a new web site to promote America's energy independence. The site--www.alloftheaboveenergy.org--is designed to give Americans an opportunity to express their support of policies that promote energy independence in America.
"I think most Americans understand that many of today's economic woes are the result of a failed energy policy that has prevented us from utilizing fully the vast variety and abundance of energy sources available in our own country," says Calvert. "And they also understand the simple, unadulterated, fact that the supply of energy in the world is not keeping up with demand.
"Therefore, our biggest economic challenge is to find and utilize every source of clean energy available in our own country. This means that the president, Congress and the American people must agree to develop new sources of oil, nuclear power, wind, solar, clean-burning coal, natural gas and hydrogen fuel. And we must not get bogged down in political posturing over which fuels are the most environmentally friendly. Of course we need to take every reasonable precaution to protect the environment, but we need to recognize that our economy will never become healthy unless we have a sufficient supply of energy."
Calvert says the site gives citizens an easy way to let their elected representatives--particularly Speaker Nancy Pelosi-- know that people want action and not political posturing, and they want to begin immediately to utilize "all of the above" sources of energy.
To access the site, citizens should type or paste HYPERLINK "http://www.alloftheaboveenergy.org" www.alloftheaboveenergy.org into the browser's address space.
