80th Assembly District candidate Gary Jeandron is opening a new campaign headquarters this Sat. in Indio. The press release said that refreshments and appetizers will be provided so I'm sure you can count on many of my fellow staffers to be there for the free food considering they are not getting paid right now.
New Gary Jeandron Campaign Headquarters
Saturday, August 2, at 1:00pm
81557 Dr. Carreon Blvd, Ste A1
Indio, CA 92201
RSVP: Bill Lohr at bill@garyjeandron.com or call 760-278-9495
I'm not sure what to make of Jeandron's campaign. I hear from many party activists in the county who feel things are going great and that his ballot title will be the deciding factor in his victory. The folks I talk to OUTSIDE the county feel that the 80th is a lost cause and that Jeandron not being Hispanic or female is going to cost him key swing votes that Bonnie Garcia always captured. Only time will tell...
Jeandron's newsletter this week said that he recently attended the Coachella Chamber Mayor's Luncheon in his opponent's hometown and that he wants "to represent the entire 80th Assembly District -- from Calexico to Palm Springs."
The message closes with a fundraising pitch that:
And last week he announced that with 100 days to go until Election Day, he has already received 1000 endorsements. Pretty impressive. Here is the whole release:

"As a police officer you protect and serve everyone; and as your next Assemblyman, I will continue that same kind of service. However, in order for me to have the opportunity to serve you in Sacramento, our campaign must be able to get out our message of strong public safety, excellent education and a commitment to reinvigorate our economy. In the coming months I will continue to work hard meeting local leaders and bringing our communities together. "

JEANDRON ANNOUNCES 1000th ENDORSEMENT 100 DAYS OUT
Grassroots campaign amasses huge endorsement list
Mon, Jul 28, 2008
INDIO, CA -- Today, former Police Chief Gary Jeandron announced that his campaign has received its 1000th endorsement just 100 days before the November 4th general election. Reynaldo Garcia, a resident of the City of Indio, signed the 1000th endorsement card over the weekend when Jeandron visited his house during a normally scheduled precinct walk. After Reynaldo and his wife Maria invited Jeandron and his supporters to discuss the issues facing the district he became the campaign's 1000th endorsement.
"I had no idea the Chief had so many committed supporters but I'm proud to be just one of them. I'm definitely among the ranks of some good company," commented Mr. Garcia, who joins the ranks of the National Latino Peace Officers Association, Riverside County District Attorney Rod Pacheco, and Imperial County Supervisor Joe Maruca, who all had previously endorsed Jeandron. A complete endorsement list can be found at www.garyjeandron.com.
"We have an established a strong grassroots campaign that is gaining new volunteers and endorsements every day. I am truly humbled and encouraged by the support that I have received from my fellow community members and look forward to keeping the momentum through November," said Jeandron.
Gary Jeandron is vying for the seat to be vacated by termed-out Assemblywoman Bonnie Garcia. The 80th Assembly District includes the cities of Indio, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, El Centro, Calexico, La Quinta, Coachella, Brawley, Desert Hot Springs, Blythe, Imperial, Calipatria, Holtville, and Westmorland.
Jeandron's years of public service includes serving as Police Chief of Palm Springs as well as serving as a member of the School Board for the Palm Springs Unified School District. Jeandron is also a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and currently resides in Palm Springs with his wife, Vicki.
