Benoit Thumps Bogh in SD37

I'm not sure if Bogh was too tough in his attacks or if John Benoit had the better resume and looked the part better.
I don't know why the margin was as big as it was, but it was big. Congratulations to Assemblyman/State Senator-Elect Benoit and his consultant/Chief of Staff Barry Nestande.
REP - State Senator 37th District
510/692 73.70%
Vote Count Percent
JOHN J. BENOIT 21,922 57.92%
RUSS BOGH 11,878 31.38%
DAVID PETERS 4,052 10.70%
Total 37,852 100.00%
I'd be interested to hear from our readers why they think this was such a blow out.

Don't know the reason why...but I am shocked by the margin of victory.
The better man won!
If Gary Jeandron was smart, he'd quick grab Benoit's team for his race. Those guys ran a great campaign. Gary could use that kind of effort.
That's true, the Benoit campaign was run just as effectively as the Bogh campaign was run poorly. They went through a couple of campaign managers, and had tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber as consultants.
Steve Presson did Bogh's campaign. Nuff said!
I thought it was Floyd and Luckso who ran Boghs, and tried to ruin Millers....
It was F&L who ran Boghs campaign (into the ground) Not sure why Miller pulled them aboard but he is lucky it didn't cost him the race.
gotta love the party unity here! come on, it was an election, there was a winner and a loser, why make it so personal? is this what we can expect from benoit? gloating and self-righteousness?
You'd think Bogh would have learned how lame Floyd is when he ran Russ' first campaign into the ground. Now Russ has lost twice at Floyd's hands. Hopefully the Benoit-Nestande machine run them out of town.
run them out of town? maybe the focus here should be on bettering our county and our party with a little mutual respect from both sides of this silly debate. while i'm glad a rep will be taking over for sen battin (like we ever doubted it) i'm sorry to see that some of his supporters have decided to trash his already beaten opponent rather than just sit back and be happy they won.
people always talk about the lack of humanity in politics and the posters here have really lived up to that reputation.
Mmm,mmmmmm wake up and smell the coffee folks, read the writing on the wall, whatever cliché you like best, if you go to Webster’s and look up "Lack of humanity in politics" there is a link to Bogh's web site, and a Picture of his Gang. Run them out of town, Wishful thinking, I just feel sorry for which ever seat The Gang sets their sights on next's maybe Marion Ashley should hire Benoit's team.
Look like Floyd is going to have to find another route back to being a paid legislative staffer.
I dont see Benoit on here ripping anyone. And if you saw the stuff those boys pulled, you wouldn't be saying "where is the party unity?" Plus, you know those boys would be on a witch hunt if they had their way.
I am all for getting paid, but dont call for party unity when you run a filthy campaign and lose, especially when you say things not very Republican:
Testimony of Joseph Lucsko before the Secretary of State’s Voting Systems and Procedures Panel - Thursday, April 22, 2004:
"Secretary Shelley, who I think's doing a wonderful job..."
"I'm proud that we have a Secretary of State like Kevin Shelley."
(Kevin Shelley is a Democrat. While reading Lucsko's praises, keep in mind Shelley resigned in March of 2005 amid numerous scandals, including the laundering of money during his 2002 Secretary of State campaign and abusive behavior toward his staff members, including sexually explicit gestures and remarks. Sounds like a guy Luscko really would look up to.)
Exactly how many races have F&L been responsible for tanking? Besides Lucsko being unable to get himself reelected to Banning City Council in 98 and Floyd losing two for Bogh...I'm sure there is a healthy list of losses that can be attributed to the shoddy work of F&L. Benoit and Nestande don't need to run them out of town - there own reputations will do it for them.
Regardless of whether you like them or not, Floyd and Luckso are good at what they do, and are effective. They have a controversial style that works in a lot of races. Speaking from experience, usually the complaints come from those on campaigns against them. I'm curious to know how it is that they did that would have jeopardized Miller's race.
Wow - I guess Kevin Shelley can be added to the list of losing candidates "enjoying" the support of F&L.
I hear that Benoit owned the 4of4 voters and and his hits on Bogh really hurt. Still who would have thought this would be a 30 point blow out.
