IEs in the IE for Miller and Nestande

The Press Enterprise has a cool new political blog where I found these interesting stories. Looks like the Californians for Jobs and Education has spent $30,000 for Jeff Miller and has another $30,000 in the bank.
Further east in the county, the California Taxpayer Protection Committee reported this week spending almost $15,000 for Brian Nestande.
It is good to see that the insurance industry and certain GOP activists realize that if they don't speak up in these elections with money and support, they are leaving the unions as the difference maker in most of these races. And while certain aspects of unions are commendable, the border patrol union's defense of agents Ramos and Compeon, overall they are not a voice for limited and efficient government.

An independent expenditure committee bankrolled by insurance companies has dropped about $30,000 into the Republican primary race for the 71st Assembly District. Californians for Jobs and Education this week reported spending the money on mail and related costs to support the candidacy of Corona Councilman Jeff Miller, who also runs an insurance agency.
The committee reports receiving $50,000 from Farmers Insurance's political action committee and $10,000 from the Personal Insurance Federation of California's political action committee.
Miller is running against Neil Blais, a Rancho Santa Margarita councilman. The district includes parts of Riverside and Orange counties. Its current occupant, Assemblyman Todd Spitzer, R-Orange, faces term limits.

A group called the California Taxpayer Protection Committee reported this week spending almost $15,000 on mail to support the candidacy of Brian Nestande of Palm Desert in the GOP primary for the 64th Assembly District.
The independent expenditure -- coordination with any candidate is illegal -- seems to be the first for any Inland legislative seat this primary season.
Nestande is running against Kelly McCarty of Riverside. The victor is the favorite to carry the Republican-leaning district in November.
So what is the California Taxpayer Protection Committee? The biggest donor is Joel Reed, an investment banker from Rancho Santa Fe who has given tens of thousands of dollars to campaign committees of Gov. Schwarzenegger and the California Republican Party.

Jeff Miller needs these IE's to come through. Not only is he at a disadvantage because of the way the district is drawn, but he also has Floyd and Luscko flubbing attacks that just bleed away money while doing more damage than good.
Word on the street is the Miller camp is not very happy with their product to date, and this may be the straw that breaks the camels back for Floyd & Luscko's already shaky outfit.
It's a shame too, because Miller is such a good candidate and may already have this thing wrapped up without the self inflicted wounds.
I still think he will win it, but it didn't have to be so tough and expensive.
