What Do Russ Bogh And Carol Migden Have In Common?
Posted by: Darin Schemmer | 03/06/2008 1:11 PM
The answer to that question appears in yesterday's Sacramento Bee.
Sacramento Bee, 3/5/2008 "Migden Sues FPPC On Spending,"
State Senator Carol Migden is suing the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) and its chairman, Republican Ross Johnson, to unfreeze $647,000 in another campaign committee that Migden control so she can use that money in her current race.
The article states:
By doing so, both Bogh and Migden, have prevented both the FPPC and the public from being able to properly examine their campaign finances to ensure that their expenditures were appropriate.
A glaring example of Bogh's disregard for California's campaign finance laws can be found simply by examining his "Russ Bogh Leadership Committee" campaign account. In the final quarter of 2006 alone, Bogh's committee reports paying tens of thousands of dollars to American Express. And just like Carol Migden, Russ Bogh failed to itemize these payments even though it is required by law.
It makes one wonder, what is Russ Bogh trying to hide?
(Oh, I suppose one difference that does separate Carol Migden from Russ Bogh is that at least Carol Migden doesn't have an unethical slush fund account open to thwart Proposition 34 campaign contribution limits)

The article states:
In her suit against the FPPC and Johnson, Migden contends the $647,000 in question "could well make the difference" in her fight to retain her Senate seat.California's campaign finance laws require that any payment of over $100.00 to a credit card company be itemized on a candidate's campaign finance disclosure reports. Like Carol Migden, Russ Bogh has also failed to itemize his credit card payments.
The disagreement stems from a complaint filed last November by Assemblyman Mark Leno, D-San Francisco, who is running for Migden's Senate seat.
He accused her of charging $397,000 in political expenses without disclosing who was initially paid and for what, as required by campaign finance laws. He also objected to the transfer of funds between her campaign committees.
Migden's campaign committee reports, dating back to 2000, included 30 instances in which credit card bills ranging from $219 to $236,431 were listed but lacked itemization, according to published reports. Her attorney said the mistakes stemmed from the use of volunteer bookkeepers who were not familiar with all of the state requirements for campaign finance reporting.
By doing so, both Bogh and Migden, have prevented both the FPPC and the public from being able to properly examine their campaign finances to ensure that their expenditures were appropriate.

Sorry Darin, but you obviously didn't read the entire campaign finance report you referenced in your post above.
Russ Bogh's campaign finance reports can withstand the scrutiny of the press and the public, unlike John Benoit's
Hey Darin, don't delete my comment again. I made a valid criticism of your posting habit, which is nothing but pro John Benoit propaganda, your current boss.
I understand that sometime you have to promote your boss, but you're becoming a one dimensional blogger - nothing but positive news for Benoit or bad news for his opponent.
If you delete this comment again, you're going to regret it.
Oh, and your boy Joe Lusco is multi-dimensional? All he has ever done is blast Benoit.
Your critisism is not valid, Darin has posted a wider variey of subject matter here than Bogh's pocket boy Joe ever will.
Regret it? What are you going to do? Whine and Complain more? Write more bogus Bogh propaganda against Benoit? Give me a break.
This is why Bogus Bogh's campaign is on the decline. His "hits" keep getting fed back to him. He's finding out the low nutritional value of eating his words day in and day out.
From his bogus supervisorial slush fund, to his hiding behind bogus taxpayer groups, to his bogus accusation of Benoit's finance reports, he's living down to the nickname "Bogus Bogh."
Can't wait to see the next newspaper article about him. Hope Darin posts it!
I just got home right now and read your comment, GOP Insider. Instead of reflexively feigning outrage over omission, check your facts. I didn't delete anything, and you can still see your original comment here: http://www.redcounty.com/riverside/2008/03/influential-taxpayer-advocate
On another note, I'll happily buy you lunch if you find just ONE post from Lucsko that doesn't laud Bogh and associates. You will never find one, never. Look through over a year of posts and you'll see I've weighed in on many issues throughout the county -- and I plan to continue being part of the online discussion as issues arise.
Darin will win that bet because you can't find such a post, because it was removed by those that did not like its content.
A few months back I saw a post from Luscko about Bruce Nestande's criminal conviction last year, the false report he made to his insurance company, and his house arrest on Lido Island. I sent the link to friends, but in less than an hour after it was posted, it disappeared.
Some weeks later, the post appeared again. I checked back an hour or so later and it was gone again. Someone must have felt that this item about a former Assemblyman and former Orange County Supervisor was not news worthy or appropriate for this blog site and removed it.
If you want to bet Darin the Schemer lunch, bet him that he was either the censor of this news item, or deals with said censor on a very frequent basis.
Funny thing, even though this item was not worthy of Red County, it was published by the Orange County Register.

Thank you Daren for your response. I will also pay attention to the blogger Lucsko that you mentioned.
I was by the Riverside County Registrars Office today and I saw the ballot designations for the 37th Senate District:
John Benoit: Assemblyman/Retired CHP Commander
Russ Bogh: Silver Spoon Boy
What does BRUCE Nestande have to do with any of this? I know Brian is running and Barry is a consultant but why trash their family members?
Reporting the news is trashing the family? Bruce is the patriarch of the Nestande Klan. He was a member of the State Assembly and the Orange County Board of Supervisors, therefore he's news worthy. As far his sons Bozo and Bonzo go, they are not quite as newsworthy, but I think we can all admit that they are fun to ridicule and satirize.
