The Benoit for Senate campaign continues to attract significant, broad-based community support throughout Riverside County and is proud to announce the endorsement of San Jacinto Mayor Jim Ayres, and Councilmembers John Mansperger and Robert Ritchie.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement from these city elected leaders," said Assemblyman Benoit, "I am committed to ensuring the state keeps its promise to protect local funding for law enforcement and transportation infrastructure during these tough budget times. Raiding local governments to balance the state budget is not acceptable."
These endorsements are significant as they are elected representatives of a city in the Assembly district formerly represented by Assemblyman Benoit's primary opponent. Benoit continues to surge ahead and leads in fundraising for the second consecutive filing period, according to Secretary of State reports.
Prior to his election to the Assembly, Benoit served 31 years in law enforcement, the last 17 as the Highway Patrol Commander in the Coachella Valley. He also served on the Desert Sands School Board.
Other early supporters of Benoit for Senate include Governor George Deukmejian, and Campaign Co-Chairs: Supervisors John Tavaglione and Roy Wilson.
Other supporters include: Assembly Republican Leader Mike Villines, Caucus Chair Bob Huff, Jessica's Law Authors Assemblywoman Sharon Runner and Senator George Runner; Senator Roy Ashburn; Assemblymembers Kevin Jeffries, Anthony Adams, Sam Blakeslee, Roger Niello, Alan Nakanishi, Cameron Smyth, Jim Silva, Joel Anderson, Jean Fuller, Riverside Police Chief Russ Leach, Corona Police Chief Richard Gonzales, Indio Police Chief Brad Ramos, Hemet Police Chief Richard Dana and Pete Hewitt (ret.); Mayor and all Councilmembers in the Cities of Indian Wells, Palm Desert, and La Quinta, 4 of 5 City of Perris Councilmembers, Lake Elsinore School District Superintendent Dr. Frank Passarella and the entire School Board, recently retired Desert Sands Unified School District Superintendent, Doris Wilson, numerous other Republican legislators; city council members; many public safety professionals and school and water board members from throughout the 37th Senate District.

Darin,
Thanks.
Five posts in two days. Hopefully that will help to get me off the front page and out of people's cross-hairs.
And if there is something we can do to take that featured post off too, that would be great. That photo of me is pretty lame.
But at least now someone else is fighting in the comment section. I have already had to throw smack-downs with Phil Paule and Dave Everett, and they are pretty good guys. And now I owe Russ Bogh a new hawaiian shirt.
(I thought about buying him a watch at first, but then I remembered he hasn't had to be anywhere for the past two years.)
Still, it's been a pleasant exchange of ideas.
John - you're a good guy. I enjoyed meeting you at the various conventions and meetings. You are a class act!
I'll give you the hawaiian off my back for Russ.
These are good endorsements for John. SJ is deep in the heart of Russ's 65th.
