On Thursday, January 31, 2008, the Riverside County Republican Party held a Presidential Straw Poll at the Historic Mission Inn in Downtown Riverside.  As you can see, Southwest Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone (pictured here) was one of several Republican elected officials in attendance.

Representatives from Republican candidates' campaigns spoke on behalf of their candidates and were available for interaction with participants on behalf of their candidate.  With nearly 200 people in attendance, the lively crowd cast their official ballots and waited for the results.

Propositions 92 & 93 both failed and propositions 94-97 all passed with 63% of the yes vote.  This was an interesting indicator to how the votes will turn out for the Inland Empire on Super Tuesday.

Mitt Romney won the Inland Empire Straw Poll Election with Ron Paul in second and John McCain in third.  Here are the percentages:

Mitt Romney 44%
Ron Paul 31%
John McCain 20%
Mike Huckabee 4%

This provided a preview of the Presidential race in the county and was a great way for supporters to boost their campaign.
