John Pate Dropping Out Of Race For 64th Assembly District, but he DOES know Jay Leno

This race for the 64th Assembly District seat has been an interesting one to say the least. First it appeared that it was going to be long time Inland Empire GOP activist Angel Sanchez against a relatively unknown, but successful businesswoman Rose Girard. Then Cal Baptist University Professor and stand up COMEDIAN John Pate entered the race with another businesswoman Kelly McCarty, who I frankly don't know much about entering the race right behind Pate. My only interaction with McCarty was a Young Republican forum where she only had a minute or two to speak, but took a hard line against illegal immigration.
As what some would describe as a "border-security-nut," that is always music to my ears.
So you had Sanchez, Girard, Pate and McCarty. For some reason, (to spend more time with her family, I'm sure) Rose Girard dropped out of the race and her political consultant and long-time GOP operative Brian Nestande got in the race. Nestande seems to be picking up many of the establishment endorsements that one might expect Angel Sanchez to pick up, but that may be because Angel Sanchez has suspended his campaign and effectively dropped out of the race.
Two separate blogs (here and here) about Angel dropping out were written without any denial or confirmation from the campaign.
And lastly, if the recent Red County post below is authentic, it seems that John Pate is also dropping out of the race for the 64th Assembly District and we are down to a two man (person) fight.

John Pate-64th Assembly Candidate said:To anyone who is remotely interested in this local race, (And I think that adds up to about four or five people) unless something drastically changes in my favor within the next few weeks, I may be forced to step back from my race anyway because of lack of financial backing/interest, and a recent loss in our family.
Even though I feel that our campaign carries the best message for the district, and I can give a moral voice to those who have felt silenced in the past, I may need to pick a better time. I will make that announcement when it is proper.
In the meantime, I would be very interested in seeing any tapes that anyone has of my performances. I have never seen myself do vulgar comedy material, so it would be fun to watch. As for knowing Jay Leno, call his show and ask if you desire to, but I don't know how knowing him, (or being his friend) would help anyone think it would make me a better Assemblyman.
As I have recently been made painfully aware, life is too short to hurt people.
Sincerely,
John Pate-64th Assembly Candidate
Looks like it is Kelly McCarty vs. Brian Nestande in the championship round.

Dave,
That's a bad headline. I believe that the post I made, after returning from my father's funeral in Alabama on Feb.2, said "If something does not change in the next few weeks" & "I will make an announcement AT THE PROPER TIME".
That means that AFTER I have spoken to the people I need to speak to, then I will make a decision and announce it.
That still stands.
But it seems that the eagerness to get me out of this race tells me that people are nervous that I might actually win it.
Besides, I can't get out until I see those video-tapes of me doing vulgar comedy material from either Benoit's people or Bogh's people. I would hate for them to have to destroy something so valuable, especially since they cannot possibly exist. I tried to contact Benoit, but he was running around the Sacramento halls still trying to get people not to support me, and I tried Bogh, but I understand he is over in Hawaii standing in line at the Don Ho estate sale trying to get some new discount shirts.(And by the way, according to the post I was responding to in my first e-mail, they STILL are not in my Assembly race, so why do they even care?)
Seriously however, I can & will make my decisions soon, and I will make my own announcements. But thanks for all of the help. That's the same kind of help Huckabee is getting right now from some quarters. Believe me, we can both put together our own words & communication better than anyone else. Please allow me to do it my way.
John Pate-(Still) Candidate 64th Assembly Dist.
I hear Nestande bled Rose Girard dry so he could run for her seat. Wow, talk about loyalty!
Well I guess that's you can expect from a low-life drunk like Nestande.
