Calvert Blasts House Democrats For Blocking Traffic Relief

Posted by: Dave Everett | 12/21/2007 7:57 AM

Congressman Ken Calvert does a great job fighting for traffic relief and transportation funding for Riverside County, but he is also fighting the good fight in "the OC."

Thumbnail image for calvert_bio_photo.jpgAs Adam D. Probolsky pointed out on the OC Blog, Calvert writes in yesterday morning's Orange County Register how he is working to get a much-needed traffic relief project built and how House Democrats are trying to thwart his efforts at every turn.

Calvert writes: "I will continue to work to reverse the damage done, and I am pleased to hear that the TCA is still moving forward with the project. However, Orange County residents should know that an amendment passed in the dead of night last May, 3,000 miles away, will undo years of careful study and collaboration with a myriad of federal and state resource agencies, along with an unprecedented amount of public input. The small elitist fringe group's temporary victory on the issue will, ironically, create longer commute times, more traffic and more pollution."

It is important for members of the public who are tired of being stuck in gridlock to support traffic relief projects no matter where they are located - especially freeway and tollroad projects.

As the Congressman knows, if we can not get a toll road built after 20 years of environmental reports and if the environmental extremists stop this project, they will not pack up and go home.

Instead, they will be enboldened, encouraged and soon ensuring that Riverside County commuters waste their lives sitting in traffic too.
