Giuliani, McCain in Southern CA Discuss Illegal Immigration

This was the welcome Senator John McCain received when he arrived at Sevilla's Restaurant in Riverside today, for a standing room only fund raiser in his honor.
Bullhorns cackled through a not-so-soundproof door in the dining area where McCain defended his illegal immigration bill by declaring that it is the best idea to date that anyone has introduced. He also stated that it was strange that Republicans voted for an amendment to the bill, in which they would eventually vote against the bill as a whole (a common practice among legislators on both sides of the aisle.)
Among the protesters was Red County San Bernardino's own Joseph Turner, who describes his accounts on the other side of the not-so-soundproof door here.
America's Mayor, Rudy Giuliani was also greeted by anti illegal immigration protesters outside of the Orange County Republican Party's annual Flag Day fund raiser on Sunday. His response in a nutshell was "Why are they protesting me", and eluding that he was on the protesters side of the argument. Audio from Giuliani's illegal immigration speech from the Flag Day event can be heard here: http://ericlinder.com/JK0611075P.m4a (Stolen from the John & Ken Show KFI640.com).

I love McCain's logic. Basically it is: "I would rather pass a piece of crap bill, because it is better than anything that has been brought forth to date."
Huh?
A piece of crap bill is a piece of crap bill. Period.
I have an idea John. Why don't you get off your butt and enforce the laws already on the books before you blow smoke up our butts and tell us that you really mean it this time...that you really are going to enforce the borders and go after employers...this time.
That dog wont hunt.
Seal the border and go after employers. Then we can talk.
His other comment about the amendment votes is puzzling. Is it just me or does McCain come off as a crotchety old coot?
Legislators have been voting for amendments they like or dislike to pass or kill a bill since the beginning of legislative bodies.
But, just to make it clear...Senators who were on the wrong side of a poison bill amendment that would have allowed the bill to stay alive were essentially supporting de facto amnesty.
I don't care if there was an amendment that would have raised taxes, called for the draft and legalized prostitution. If it was a bill killer amendment, then every Republican opposed to amnesty should support the amendment.
The days of playing softball and conversing with electeds over team and crumpets is over. There is going to be a price to be exacted and a pound of flesh to be extracted from these out of touch politicians. Especially, sell outs like Lindsey Grahamnesty in South Carolina.
McCain's campaign is over. He won't make it past the primaries because of this issue. No conservative in their right minds will vote for this guy.
The Republican party, and George Bush in particular, has done everything to marginalize their conservative base and McCain is the poster child for that.
I believe the presidency will be won or lost because of this one issue, because it touches on so many other problems we are facing as Americans, from national security to education, to the economy. The influence of special interests are obviously winning out, and if it continues, I fear we could see oridnary citizens taking action that could eventually turn violent.
