Man Files Ethics Violation Against Dom Betro

I heard about this a couple weeks ago but didn't have enough facts to post it. Here's the claim made by Kevin Dawson in an ethics complaint:
On the night of May 3, 2007, my daughter and I were standing on the sidewalk, at the corner of Market Street and Mission Inn Boulevard we were holding signs containing a political message, handing out flyers and talking with passing members of the public. At approximately 8 pm, Mr. Betro, almost running, approached my daughter and I, and without verbal or physical provocation upon our part, he said in a loud and public manner, with malice, “Kevin, you had better hope I lose.” The tone and inflection of his voice made it clear that his statement was intended to be a threat. The implication of his statement is, I believe, that if Mr. Betro is re-elected that he would in some way use the power of his office to cause harm to myself, my daughter, my family, or my community, the University Neighborhood.

Dawson sounds like a wimp.
What a baby. What happened to all the men is this country?

Oh no, the big bad Dom Betro is going to hurt me! Kevin Dawson and his "democracy for America" nuts are wimps.
What if you were his daughter, can you imagine having this guy as your father? "Hi, this is my dad and he's afraid Dom Betro is going to use the awsome power of Riverside City Council to hurt my community or a small animal."
What happened to all the men of this country, indeed? I mean, honestly! What man in his right mind would be scared of such a trivial thing as a direct threat from a City Councilman?
Foolishness, to be sure.
Why not read the actual threat and then ask yourself, what exactly are the ramifications of Betro's statement? And then back this thought up with the fact that he who threatened Dawson actually has the power to harm him, and, if we're to take him at his word, his community? Frankly, I think that Dawson's speech at the City Council meeting was an intelligent precautionary measure to take, well-thought out in both address, execution, and audience.
