Obviously I don't think anybody will disagree that Republicans had a bad year in 2008 losing a number of seats throughout the nation. Many however have viewed this as the end of the Republican Party as we know it. I beg to differ citing this source as just one example that the tide can turn in a matter of no time:

The article for those of you not interested in reading it shows how to Democrats in New York have flipped sides giving Republicans a majority in the New York State Senate. Yes, you heard me right Republicans now have a majority in the New York State Senate although it is a very weak majority. This does not prove that the Republicans will have a great year in 2010 (Although I hope we do) but I would say that it proves that it is not time for people to write us off just yet.

I thought they were just about as well off as we are in CA. Too many taxes, too many businesses leaving...
And haven't the Republicans been in control of the senate there for years?

|Republicans have run the NY State Senate for decades. Dems had it for five months and it took two Dems to go red to cause them to lose it back to the Republicans today.

|who speaks for the GOP now adays? while taking a beating in Nov, it takes time for someone to become the talking head for them. But to your point of that it is the end of the GOP as you know it is true. Read the headlines. The GOP wants to be more appealing to young people, more appealing to minoritys, more appealing to moderates, etc,etc,etc...The GOP is run by a bunch of bald, old white men. To become more appealing to you will have to change and not be the GOP of old. So you can deny that it will not have to change, but it is dead if it doesnt.
