Reciprocity and Superiority

There are Israelis to the right of Netanyahu who demand reciprocity of citizenship.  If no Israeli Jew can be an equal citizen of a new Muslim-dominated Palestinian state, then no Muslim resident of Israel can be an equal citizen of a Jewish Israel.  It is typical of the double standards that are applied to Judaism and Islam that Israelis are violently criticized for this stance and Palestinians are not.

Russian leaders are demanding the right to operate Christian churches openly with the same rights in Saudi Arabia as mosques have in Russia prior to giving approval for more mosques in Russia

There is a logical symmetry to these proposals and more non-Muslims should follow this lead.  It might be interesting for non-Muslims to find out just what it is in Islam that prevents the open operation of churches and synagogues in Saudi Arabia

K. 2:193  And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors.

Although the impulse to cleanse the holy land of Arabia of all worship except of Allah may have come from verses like this one, the question remains:  why is the presence of other religions seen as defilement?  Why do other religions not have a holy land in which the equal status of other religions is denied?

Islam was born as the final refinement of Judaism and Christianity.  Its whole reason for being was its superiority to its predecessors.  Islam attempted to replace them and offer their practitioners protection as well-intentioned but misguided monotheists.  No doubt they would come to their senses and realize what was being offered them by Islam.

But they didn’t.  They remained ungrateful for the gift.  And so the Jews are the ones who have incurred Allah’s anger and the Christians are the ones who have gone astray in the prayer repeated daily by every pious Muslim, K. 1:7.  When generosity to inferiors is spurned, there are consequences.  As Bill Warner points out, there is no word in Islam as hateful as “kafir”.

So, in addition to an inborn attitude of superiority, there lurks in Islam an anger at the ingratitude of unbelievers.

And then the kafirs had the temerity to become the world leaders in technology with a standard of living that was embarrassingly, undeniably superior to that of most Muslims.   The ones chosen by Allah to instruct the kafir were deeply chagrined.  And it got worse.  The kafirs then advised Muslims that Islamic law and custom were holding Muslims back from achieving all they could.

Jihad, by terror attacks and by invasion disguised as immigration, was the only answer left.
